Default Two Days of Weirdness... Water is causing nauseousness!

Yesterday, I had my first need to throw up because I ate too much I thought. Restriction hit me like a M'Fr! I got the sweats, pain in my esophagus, felt like something was stuck, I had a need to burp, but I felt I would choke and when I tried just water came up. It went on an on, I finally got on my knees and stuck my finger in my throat nothing came up but a 'bit of water and bit of acid, but that made me feel better. I took a Pepsid about 20 min later and I felt so much better. I looked at my food log, and other than having had restaurant food, I really did not overly ate, but I drank water.

I have been more careful today, and didn't have any issues until dinner, I measured my food and served myself 1/4 cup of a baked sweet potato, and a pan grilled pork-chop that weighted 4oz with the bone and some fat I had not trimmed. I don't follow the NO Water 30 minutes before/after rule, and I take a few sips of water if needed if food is too dry. Well the Porkchop was left over from Sunday's dinner and I microwaved for a minute to defrost and warm, so it got a little dry and I needed water.

As I was finishing the last of my dinner half of pork-chop still left, I took a tiny sip and that weird feeling in my esophagus happened again! The flush feeling, heart racing, I wanted to burp but couldn't, and water coming up. I was getting anxiety because I didn't want to make myself throw up again.

I went outside to walk, I kept walking for 10 minutes and then came back home.

I was still feeling some sort of way, but it is gone now. I'm going to wait a little while longer before I take a sip of water and try to take a Pepcid.

Has anything like this happen to anyone? Is that the reason for the no water rule? But why all of the sudden???

I was told too not drink while eating but just getting into eating regular food again and I had to sip some water as well and so far everything ok. I am nervous that might happen to me as well so thanks for sharing and I will continue to be careful about it.
Have a great evening and hope you feel better soon.

I usually stop drinking 10/15 minutes before eating, and try to drink only a few sips during a meal if needed (too dry, or spicy etc...) but those past weeks are really hot and I do drink more often during meals, only a little at a time, I did notice that if I eat something dense like hard boiled egg or parmesan cheese (even a small quantity), usually I can't eat much after drinking, and it does feel a little uncomfortable. But I'm at more than 7 months now. Anyway it's hard to predict if it's going to do the same the following day because what I can do one day, can't do the next. It seems my stomach has a mind of it's own...

Yass! Thank you for sharing your experiences, I keep going through my head what I could have done to trigger such weird reaction! Weirder is that it has only happened at dinner time.

Do you think my body is rejecting anything after a certain time? Kind of saying "ok lady you reached your limit for today! I'm shutting this thing down!!!"

The sweating and anxiety sounds more like dumping syndrome than anything being stuck. Before I had my sleeve surgery, I had the lap band. It slipped. Every time I ate, food got stuck and I'd have to throw up. But I never had those other symptoms with it.

Make sure the sugar/fat content in your foods is low. That may be causing you to have the flush and heart racing feeling.

    Hope it passes quickly!

The only few times I was in pain and sweating was when I had something my stomach didn't like. One bite of cauliflower made me sick for three days. Really bad stomach cramps (month 2). Also a sauce that I didn't know had alcohol in it (flambe!), one bite and dinner was over (month 5). I didn't drink while eating during those meals. And now there's food I can tolerate, that I couldn't have at three months (pepper bell). I can see it does get better regarding the food sensitivity, but because we eat outside often and I don't always know all the ingredients in the dish (not fluent in Chinese, or sometimes it's not even written) I do smell most of my food because sometimes I can already know just from the smell...five spices are a big no no! Yesterday it was my daughter's birthday, she picked the restaurant and we tried dumplings with truffle. I always loved truffle....well, not yesterday. It didn't make me sick but I could feel that it was not well received. Pork...during the first three months, I had days when it was fine, others I couldn't have more than two small bites. But it didn't make me sick, just full really fast, eating almost nothing. It was the same with eggs, one day I couldn't finish only one scrambled, the following week I could have two small poached eggs, few days later half a boiled egg and that was over. That's why I had issues to get enough protein for a while, eating protein was a challenge and I had a hard time drinking the shakes. Now at least it's better...
The water rule was made to keep space in our stomachs to eat protein, and also not to eat to much carbs (drinking would flush it and we could eat more). I watch carefully my serving size like you do so I'm no worried about the flushing aspect, but it's true that I still try to avoid drinking too much. I hope you will be able to know where the issue is coming from. Could be something small....good luck and take care!

I ate about a 1/4 cup of smashed avocado and 2.5oz of grilled chicken and 1 gluten free tortilla. No water was hard not to do, and had a tiny sip of lemon water. No dumping syndrome or nauseousness. I even had a half an orange about an hour later.

Things I did today. Ate slower. Ate every 3hrs. I took all supplements about an hour after a meal. Drank 80oz of water. I added salt to my food. New item I had 2 servings of MuscleEgg chocolate protein drink instead of other proteins, one in the am, and one pm.

    I ate closer to 1200 calories: 146g Protein, 78g Carbs, 28g Fat.

Not as lightheaded. We walked around neighborhood for about 20 minutes. I did a 35min workout video Yoga Booty Ballet.

It was a better day definitely!

Yes, I had similar experiences with pineapple of all things! and ****** spaghetti sauce...I cannot tolerate either. I get ill within moments. I used to LOVE spicy food with curry etc...no more! I get sick as a dog and have even vomited up small bits of blood. I have learned my lesson!
