I have so enjoyed the witty and encouraging posts on this forum... Hearing the advice and feeling the positive energy is getting me to that level of comfort I need to be at.
My lap band revision to sleeve surgery is with Almanza on September 5; yep, Labor Day.... I have had the lap band since October 2007, and I am at peace with it, but hubby HATES it. No big problem for me, but no great results either. The past year has been a double whammy of menopause and hypothyroidism, which equals weight gain. Still under 45 lbs from lap band in 2007, but weight is getting out of control. I had the fortune four months ago of being put on thyroid meds, which has increased my energy to the point that I walk between 4 to 5 miles per day. I have also learned from your experiences and have made adaptations in preparation for surgery next month. Weaning myself off Diet soda, drinking water, stocking up on protein powder, and continuing the walking. Have dropped 11 pounds in four months from just walking.
Please tell me, how is the amount of protein grams needed per day determined? I have seen posts of anywhere from 40 - 100 per day. Is there a mathematical formula based on factors of weight, height, and age?
Thank you for sharing your wisdom. I don't discuss weight issues easily; It is a very personal journey, so I greatly appreciate your experiences and encouragements for each other. Hoping for your continued successes!
