Weird Things You Weren't Expecting

I'm a bit over 6 months out from surgery, so still quite the newbie. I recently noticed I was getting all these little round bruises along the tops of my thighs and could not for the life of me figure out what they were. Then I realized that usually when I sit bent over or leaning, I lean my elbows against my thighs; apparently I've lost enough weight around my ELBOWS that the pointy things were bruising me when I rested them against the tops of my thighs!

Well that's a heck of a weird "side effect" from the surgery. So I wondered; what other weird or unusual things have happened to all the other sleevers out there? Spill it people!

That is too funny. My weird one is that I have bruised my tailbone TWICE!! lol I guess with less junk in my trunk I gotta quit sitting on hard surfaces for too long

MY tailbone hurts frequently as there is nothing left there to protect it! And, if I go too long without eating, I burp. I guess it's my little tummy trying to tell me it's empty

My nose started running after having surgery! It's the weirdest thing! After I start to eat, one side will run like a faucet, so I have to keep a tissue nearby when I eat now LOL!

I remember when I started seeing my bones again. I too get bruises in different places. It's a good problem to have!

I sink! I have always loved to swim and nearly floated on top of the water. Didn't even need to tread water! OMG, now I will sink to the bottom if I don't work at it! lol!

Another weird thing has to do with my diet. I was always a low sodium girl (despite loving salt) because of my hypertension. At my 6 month surgical f/u after a review of my nutrition intake my bariatric coordinator said I needed to increase my sodium. I just stared at her. She laughed and said "I know, it goes against everything you hear and see in the healthy eating and diet world, but with your new eating habits you are way under the recommended sodium amount and that is why you are getting lightheaded so much. Also no more hot showers. I don't want you keeling over."

I'm like "YES. SALT." My husband said he's going to buy me a salt lick. Smart aleck.

hiccup when full (eating or drinking)

my legs/hips can hurt - now this one is weird but kinda makes sense. i think since i lose weight and i now have to stand differently - so my posture has effectively changed and my joints arent used to is so they can hurt.

low blood sugar - and this is by testing and not guessing (sorry pet peeve people saying low blood sugars without any true evidence... you dont have low blood sugar every time youre hungry..)

i thought my feet would shrink more - ive had a 4e wide foot, and though its slightly slimmer - i still need 4e wide shoes

wasnt expecting but glad - i need meds for sleep. before i would take them and fall asleep within an hour or so - now i need to have my butt in bed immediately.
