Hello from Buffalo, NY!!

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum. I'm Krista, 31, and living in Buffalo, NY. I'm 5'4 and about 250lbs, and I'm ready for this new lifestyle and the new me. I am still pre-surgery, and I'm working on getting all of the requirements done in order to get the sleeve surgery. I meet with the surgeon on Feb 25th, so I'm excited about that. I'm currently a stay at home mom to a 3 year old boy and 15 month old girl. I'm also going back to school part time to be a dental hygienist.

Would love to meet some people either pre or post surgery in the Buffalo area, but any and all support is welcome. Glad to be here!

Hi krista! I just posted on your other post. I'm from buffalo also! I went for my surgery on January 20th. I'm still in the beginning stages. The best advice I can give you is to stay strong and focused. It took me about 6 months from start to finish to get qualified by my insurance. Also, listen to your doctors! They know what's best. I loooove my surgeon. His name is Dr Pham. He's phenomenal. I wish you luck through the process! It's definitely been a journey so far. I'm excited to see the weight come off

Hi Krista!
congrats on you decision to get a sleeve! it's great to do the surgery now, when you are still young and need to take care of your young children.
I wish I could have done it when my children were younger too, I was always so tired! working full time with three children was draining me, and even if my husband helped in the house I was sick all the time because of my weight.
But it's never too late, I just got my sleeve on January 20, I'm 43 and my youngest is 9 years old so I'm hoping the future will offer me the opportunity to be more active now, I'm already planning on going hiking next month, being lighter it should be so much easier!

Melanie- how are you feeling? How did the surgery go? Where in Buffalo are you? I'm in Cheektowaga. My surgeon is going to be Dr. Caruana from Synergy bariatrics in Williamsville. I meet him on the 25th. I have most of the steps completed, and I'm anxious to get going!

That's ok! Now I'm sorry for the long delay in responding lol. My kids and I all got the stomach bug, so I was MIA from the internet for awhile. I'm glad you're doing well! I'm super excited to get started! I hope I can get surgery by June

Hi Krista - My name is Jenn and I'm going to Synergy Bariatrics also but with Dr. Cavaretta. I'm just getting started with my classes next week and have gotten all my required stuff together. I'm anxiously awaiting my appointment with the Dr. I wish this process was quicker!!!!!
