I'm 6 weeks post op and weighed myself this morning and the scale shows I gained 4 lbs!!! How is this possible? I'll be honest I'm feeling alittle anxiety about this..I'm in my soft food stage..I can't take in alot of food. One or two teaspoons and I'm full..I don't understand what's going on...help! Has anyone experience this?

Any issues going to the bathroom? How much water are you drinking?

@mtngrl Hi..yes I only go once a week compared to how I use to go before surgery. My surgeon told me to take miralax until i get regular and ive been taking that for the last 2 weeks. As for water the goal is 64 oz a day but I'm hitting about 40 oz a day or more or less..

The scale can go up if you are not drinking enough water. It isn't weight gain really, but you should try to get more water in. Also, watch the coffee. I was told I could drink caffeinated coffee only after I could drink 64 ounces of water each day. You can try drinking zero vitamin water or something like that if it helps get the liquids down.

Drink more. Eat more. I gained 3 pounds between weeks 6 and 7. Didn't weigh myself again until 10 weeks. Weighed exactly the same. I was taking a medication at the time that made me extremely nauseous and I could barely eat or drink anything. Ironically, the only time I stalled was when my calories and fluids were at the absolute lowest. As soon as I stopped the medication and doubled my intake I lost 8 pounds in one week.

However, daily fluctuations occur anyways and water weight can account for a lot (I gained 11 pounds in one day after receiving IV fluids for dehydration). And that's another reason yo drink more....dehydration sucks and is a real possibility with what little you are getting in. Not to mention your cells need water in order to metabolize fat. Without fluids your body can't function properly and it will hang on to every single ounce it can. Drinking more will also help your BM's. So besides eating and drinking more, I strongly recommend staying off the scale. You are stressing yourself out and that, too, will cause weight gain.

Agree with all above!! You have to get your water in at least the 64 oz. you should be able to take 2 stool softeners now too. I take Miralax in the morning and 2 stool softeners at night. And water water water.

I know I'm getting personal here, but feminine issues such as ovulation and the menstrual cycle cause me to gain several pounds of temporary water weight each month.

I'll gain anywhere from three to seven pounds about a week before my menstrual flow starts. Once my monthly period passes, the water weight is usually gone.

im a bit more along than you and have lost and gained during weeks. if youre following the diet properly, you should see the long term results as losing weight. now if youre cheating and eating crap - drinking more calories than you should, you will notice you gain or lose more slowly.

one thing i did was track everything. weight being only 1 factor. i track measurements too. so every week, i see my arms, legs or my gut losing inches when i might not be losing weight.
