Hey guys im 3days post op and for the most psrt feel okk im still in the hospital but they're weighing me every morning iv gaid 7 lbs sinceen Monday and sometimes i actually felt my belly growling is this normal? My meds s kicking in so I'll post more later

Hey Sam. First congrats and so happy you are 3 days past. I know it gets tiring and bittersweet being at the hospital. I almost didn't want to leave because I wanted to be sure I did everything right but then VERY happy to get all of the tubes disconnects from me! I have been feeling stomach growls too and I'm now 9 days post op. I have been told it's different for everyone and I have just been really trying to concentrate on whether or not it was a hunger pain or just a different type of growl that was like my hunger pains. I have had a few hunger pains but they are not as severe as they used to be. It's like someone is going to die if I don't get any food; lol. Glad to hear you are on the road to success. Keep in touch of your progress. Today is my first follow up appointment. My wounds are healing nicely; I have made sure a lot of air got to them. Not the most attractive but necessary. Keep walking! We've got this!

Thank you Brenda we can do this together!! I just was told my blood pressure was down so to get more fluids in but im scared im going to stretch my stomach lol

It can be normal to gain weight while in the hospital all the IV fluids that you are taking in is what causes that usually. Once your home and drinking water this should all change.

I gained weight in the hospital too because of the IV fluids. I started losing weight about 5-6 days in and it's starting coming off pretty quickly.

ohhh - I am so glad they didn't weigh me after surgery. You are so full of fluids at that point that it is almost impossible to lose weight. In fact, I have heard a number of people who have gained in the hospital for just this reason. When you get home and settle into the "rest of your life" you will start a more normal life.

As far as the growling - I have a feeling that it is the gas they use to pump you up for the surgery. You probably aren't hungry - in fact as you probably know, they removed the ghrelin or hunger hormone and most people don't really feel hungry for some time.

good luck in your journey to all those at the beginning of their programs. My sweetheart had surgery on Tuesday Oct 20th and goes for his first check up tomorrow as well.

My stomach does the gurlgely growling thing too, especially when I eat. My surgeon says its normal because of the way fluids move through your stomach.
