    Default I may be a hypochondriac...Ok I am

I am having the sleeve done by Dr, Elias Ortiz in a month, but I am so scared......like major. I have quite a few heath issues. I am 245 pounds. I smoke. I had a stroke three years ago due to hypertriglyceridemia. I just went to my GP to have blood work done and my triglycerides are 1003!

I want the sleeve to get my weight under control for my health but I am so affraid that I will die on the t‎able.

Any words of wisdom besides to quit smoking... I know I need too

Bless your heart! I have a lot of issues too but not quite that bad. I haven't had a stroke but my BP is out the roof and I am on 3 meds. Plus I have a lot of other health issues. I smoke to and I am trying my best to quit. Patches haven't helped a lot. How long do you have to stop before surgery? And do you have any ideas how to stop? I hope things goes well for you so please keep me posted. My weight was the same as yours but I have lost down to 225 but it's taken me 6 mos. and if I don't do this I will just put it back 0n. It's happen to many times. God bless you and comfort you!

Well thats why I went to my gp. He seems to think its a good idea to have the surgery. But I am going to Mexico for the procedure. He knows about that too. He is doing a chest x-ray, did the blood work and has ordered a ekg. To make sure im ok for surgery but there is only so much he can do as he is only a gp not a bariatric surgeon. The surgeon in Mexico doesn't seem to care. I was just told to quit smoking if I can, but if not to blow up balloons before my surgery date...I dont know. So scared. I have to do this. I had a total abdominal hysterectomy a year ago. It cant be any worse than that right?? Since then I have gained 50 pounds. And climbing. If I keep going at this rate ill be one of those people who have to be cut out of the house!

sounds like legit concerns to me! I think you should raise them with your surgeon if you haven't already.

I think most surgeons want you to be smoke free for about 6 weeks before surgery (although maybe I am now thinking of plastic surgery!?)

Wishing you the best on your journey to better health!!!
