Well, I found out my sleeve is working, in an unpleasant way

So, everything has gone really well since surgery. This week I was moved to ground meat and mushy food phase- 3 ozs per meal. At lunch today I wasn't sure I was full, since I was gauging it by how much food I still had left on my plate. I ate two more bites and knew I hit the max. Well, almost instantly I knew it was all coming back up.

So, the lesson is don't gauge how full you are by the amount of food left on your plate.

Happens to all of us. I personally like it -- it helps me get in tune with my body and learn what it feels like to be full -- the trick is stopping when I'm full!

Been there. It is a matter of learning to stop before you're full.

Truer words

Because 10 minutes after you take that last bite, it can feel like whatever you ate grew.
If you order a meal at a restaurant, have them box up at least half the plate before it gets to you.

But how will you know? I hate throwing up, so I definitely want to stop before hand.

You can measure, or eyeball the amount carefully. You are brand new, so likely only taking sips at this point of liquids. Once you start eating, it will only be a bite or two of semi solids - then progressing. 1/2 cup is a comfortable amount for most of us once we are able to eat real food & are a ways out. I used to say I could pick which 7 bites of food I wanted to enjoy - because anything more was a problem. Now I can eat a bit more, but I sure don't want to keep increasing my stomach capacity. If you ever do get to that "too much" point, take note of it & make sure your plate is less than that in the future. I hope that helps.
