Ok... I am taking benefiber and even stool softener and having such a hard time. It is taking at least 2 to 4 days to go. I feel so bloated and don't want to eat or take protein drinks cuz it feels so uncomfortable.

How am I supposed to get protein in if I feel like this... i am not a happy camper not being able to use the bathroom.

Anyone have any ideas how I can get myself flowing so to speak... Advise is welcome. Thanks.

one thing that i have done in the past that works much better then any drugs ingesting is to do an actual anema - sounds gross but you get immediate relief within less then a minute. you can use something like fleet anema and it will clear out only your lower intestines - if this isnt scaring you off or doing the trick then get an anema bag with warm water and do atleast one bag. fill up bag warm water and use that. what happens is you are filling up your bowels with warm liquid and trying to hold it as much as possible ( 1- 5 min) by lying on your side and allowing the liquid to move thru your system. then when you #2 you are releasing all the toxins and poo out of your system. i did it before surgery and i think it really helped too. think about you have that much less toxic waste in your system. I did the best in my group in recovery and i think this might have had something to do with it. i have been a colonic person thought for the last couple years so i knew it couldnt hurt. in fact thanks for posting it reminds me to do one this week.

Marna, you are 21 days out, what kind of full liquids are you taking in? sometimes for me (I used to ask and have the same problem!) drinking 'heavier' or cream soups really get my BM going.. try campbell's soup to go in cream of broc or chicken.. they are really tasty and goes down easy...

John, taking an anti-dirreah may help..

Protein shake (Optifast). I tried eating a little pea soup hoping that would do it. I have had a little tilapia and broccoli blended in the food processor. I tried a little scrambled egg. I can't get the protein in enough so I tried other things high in protein. Called the doctor told me take benefiber three times a day. After a few days of still not going, the doctor told me yesterday to go out and get dulcolax suppositories. Used 2 last night and 1 this morning. I was able to go, but now again I feel pressure that I need to go with that bloated feeling in my stomach and feel yucky. I am at work now and don't want to use the laxative until I get home.

Do you get Senokot over there? Senokot Max Strength Tablets 15mg 24 Blister Pack

The first couple of weeks after the op i had the runs but since then i get bunged up for at least 7 days before i can go and even then it's an effort *insert embarrassed face here*. But i got ok'd to take Senokot last week, i took one and the next day i went so all's good here.
Failing laxitives have you tried prune juice?
