Unhappy What I miss the most.......

What I miss the most...... Throwing back ice cold water!!!! I am a big water drinker, all day, icy cold! I try to take a big sip and I feel intense pain! Will I ever be able to take a big sip of water again!? I'm three weeks out from surgery. One more thing I miss terribly is Ginger Ale, I'm not a big soda drinker but when I did indulge, Ginger Ale was my go to. I'm so bummed.............and thirsty!!!!!

I totally agree about the ice water. Sipping water is okay but I miss downing big gulps of water. Also my wife was drinking a Coke with ice and it sure looked good. I'm 5 days post op today, and the food commercials on TV are killing me too. Glad im not alone out here, thanks for your post.

It will....I'm chugging on a 16oz bottle of ice water right now. Nice, cold, refreshing big gulps (sorry ). I can't down the whole thing at once, but I could finish it in under 15 minutes. And this is coming from someone who couldn't tolerate plain water AT ALL for the first 4 months! Don't worry, things will changed dramatically the further out you get.

I loved ice cold water but I can no longer drink it still. I drink heaps of water and can take a chug or two but it is room temp or nothing, I would never have thought I would liked it warm, actually I didn't really think about it at all, when something hurts it becomes pretty easy to stop, so now I enjoy my water just as much as before but it can't be cold. Same with my milk, ohhhh I miss taking a chug of that freezing cold but same thing it hurts. But hey minor sacrifice for all the weight loss and as I said if it hurts in the end you won't miss having it.

Being able to gulp anything when I'm thirsty :-( was always in a hurry to drink and to eat too. Had to learn to slow life down a bit.

I'm the same as Janeanne. I am finally able to drink big gulps of water again, but only can drink room temperature. I remember the first few days after surgery when I would be half asleep and reach for my water. I'd take a huge gulp, and holy hell the pain! It made me quite sad for a long time. Being able to drink normally again has been one of the greatest joys. I was one that didn't think it would ever get better, and felt sorry for myself and angry over my decision to have surgery for several months. It does get better. It really does.

Hey, I was like you as well and thought I would never be able to down a gulp of water again but I CANNNNN YAA, you will be back to normal in a few months and even ginger ale if you want but you will burp more than ever lol. The only thing as far as drinking that I miss is being able to drink and eat together.

I do drink ice cold water but usually not in big gulps. I still sip sip sip. Also, I do drink ginger ale now, I just found one that has not sugar or artificial sweetners and it tastes great. I just don't guzzle it. I sip that too.

Well this has been one of my biggest worries. I am the biggest water guzzler, especially in the heat. I drank two ounce containers Saturday within about an hour when I was working in the garage.

Yes, of course you'll be able to drink normally again, it's just too soon, your tummy is healing. (Having a big, cold drink as I type, and no sips!)
