i need help from my sleeve family

I was in the hospital for 2 days due to kidney stones(have had them for 11 years) and for dehydration. so i get home from the hospital late lastnight and step on the scale and i have gained 10 pounds!! how in the hell did this happen!! i'm so depressed i dont know what to do.... any suggestions ???

dont be depressed, my gf is still in the tujunia hospital and has the same problem, they said it's normal should straighten out in a few days..

If you were in the hospital and had an IV, and you were dehydrated before, then your extra weight is probably fluid. relax, its probably a good thing, you should feel better now.

I gained 10 lbs in the hospital having my sleeve done. Talk about shock when I got on that scale!!! The IV fluid and the inability to get rid of fluid really did a number on me. But once it started coming off, it went fast.

Don't worry, it will come off quickly, its due to your IV!

Relax, they pumped you full of fluids for the dehydration. Surgery causes swelling = inflamation, water retention. May take several days for the swelling to leave, drink lots of water it will help. When your body dehydrates it shuts down trying to hang on to the remaining fluid. Drink lots of water, it will cause your body to release the extra fluid. Hope your feeling better soon. Don't get depressed...this will probably cause you to loose more weight. Keep smiling!

Since you were dehydrated they most likely used a sodium based IV for the first bag or two then switched to Ringers Lactate. It still has sodium but in different concentrations. These will both cause you to retain fluid (which is desired for you HEALTH but not for your stepping on the scale).

You have been through a trauma, give your mind and body a chance to rebound from this. Try to stay off the scale and realize your health is more important and in a few days you will see the scale as your friend again. In the meantime DRINK!!! You need lots of water to flush your system. ((hugs)) to you as you recover.

thank you all so much !!! i sure needed that . my hands , feets and even my nose is swollen!! ugg i didn't even know i was dehydrated until my urologist came in yelling at me ( playfully) i was even told to use a straw!! becausse i've been having such a hard time getting all of my fluids in!!

Well, I can see this calls for drastic measures---Let me get my DR cape on--- ok, I believe that you need to drink drink drink---everything said above is all true---IV's can be the devil as much as carbs can. Get your rest, drink lots of fluids and in 3 days you WILL feel better---throw the scale in the corner for at least 2 weeks, call me if you develop any further problems!!!! i also gained 8 lbs my first few days. this is not uncommon. congratulations and i promise the scale will drop.
