Default Scared to eat at 9 weeks out

I have been losing steadily (50 pounds down!!!) and feel ok. I know for a fact, though, that I am not eating as much as I should. I take in maybe 300-400 calories a day. The problem is, I am scared to move to regular foods. It is completely mental, because I have a feeling I could do it, I just won't. Has anyone else had this problem?

Also, what are my fellow 9 weekers eating for breakfast? I am sick of yogurt.

    Thanks!

wow! 9 weeks without solid food? i'm only week and half.. ish post-op and ready for solids already.. :\ no wonder you lost so much weight! are you on soft foods at all or mix between full liquids and soft? i don't think it's your mind thing that's got you worried.. i'm sure you feel that way bc you feel a bit of discomfort when swallowing? Dr.Alverez's sleeve book says to introduce 1 new food at a time... guess you should step up your soft food game!

Are you afraid to slow down the weight loss or to hurt your sleeve or to hurt when u eat? Does your doc know your not eating? Don't be afraid to eart, just take the calories and same percentages of protein and carbs and transfer it to real food. Same thing! Start with that and see how it goes. Not even the entire amt of calories solid but some of it. You will have the same results. Just start with a bite.

    Hi
I'm not at 9 weeks, only 3 but had to start mush early due to not being able to digest milk smoothies, seems to be the whey proteins that get me.
Breakfast for me is crustless quiche.
I use 9 plain old eggs, mixed well. ( you can use 2 1/4 cups of egg beaters, I just don't like it )
Add enough skim milk to make 3 1/2 cups. Add 3/4 cup shredded ff cheddar (if you like cheese) and some butter flavored powder (in the popcorn aisle or with the spices). Bake in a silicone pan or in a regular one lined with parchment paper for 1 hr at 320, covered with foil for the 1st 1/2 hr. It's done when it's set in the middle and a knife comes out pretty clean.
Let cool just a bit, then refrigerate.
    I cut a 9" square pan into 9 servings.
To reheat, put in a small bowl in the microwave, covered lightly. Heat 30 sec, mush it up, heat 30 more.
Makes a really easy AM meal that's good and mushy, and goes down well on a sensitive tummy. If it comes out a bit too dry or tight, add a tsp of milk or water mid microwaving.
About 12 gms protein per serving, for 9 servings.

Otherwise I pretty much live on yogurt and Progresso light clam chowder with the solids strained, blended and then put back in.

And Congrats big time on dropping 50 lbs!
Best NSV - fitting on a kid's amusement park ride with my 4 yr old grandson!
CFIDS =Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) Also dx with post-bariatric reactive hypoglycemia; and chronic gastritis (both sleeve complications). Permanently disabled.
Start weight 335, down to 218, up during gastritis. Have accepted there is no way to lose it with my hypoglycemia. Current weight 260. Currently doing 10 day sleeve reset and determined to get back down to my post surgical weight or close to it.

I don't know if I shared this with everyone, but my cousin who had the RNY a few months ago asked her Dr. about the protein thing---I was told get 60-80 in per day. She was told the same thing BUT---
Don't have all protein at once--15 gram at a time because your body will only use 13-15 at a time. Wait 1 1/2 to 2 hours between each one. 5 times a day is perfect. I am trying to do that, but honestly, measuring liquid intake and protein only so much at a time---WILL I EVER CATCH ON TO HOW TO DO THIS?????

My Nutritionest suggested whole wheat english muffins, egg whites, and canadian bacon or ham. She said you will only be able to eat about half of it at a time. I find that toasted well, I like it. Gives me a little chunky to my meals.

Thanks eveyrone! And Nina, I will try that recipe. I eat solid foods, but the amount is so minimal that I hardly think it accounts for anything. I read some "sample menus" and think "How the heck can I eat that!?" For example, I had half a serving of oatmeal for breakfast and it took me almost an hour to eat it. Some things I have read say I can eat 3 oz of a pork chop! NO WAY! I have not had a good time with chicken (which most say is easiest to digest) so I am a little gun shy to try meats. I think I just need to get my big girl panties out and push through! Thanks again everyone.

My Dr says your stomach is real small & in about a year it will stretch & you will be able to eat a small ( kids plate ). So eat what you can & keep your liquids coming in. You are normal, so keep the weight coming off.

With meats and such, you have to start with moist, soft meats, and diced. Or try deli meats, sliced thin. Ham is a good moist meat. Pork chops and steak aren't even in my meal plan until 6 months out. Try crackers or toast. String cheese. Canned fruit in natural juices. Tuna or other fish.

I have a scrambled egg with a pinch of shredded cheese for breakfast. That's kind of like a crustless quiche, no?

Eggs, cottage cheese, string cheese, soy milk, canned chicken and tuna.... these are my main go-to food sources most of the time. I will I add in a dill pickle slice and a bit of full fat mayo with the tuna or chicken and make a mini salad. 2 pcs of melba toast with that on it and I'm great. A hard boiled egg or just a single boiled egg with a shred of cheese is a great meal as well. I use soy milk as my base with protein shakes for breakfast during the week to get a quick RTD shake. String cheese is an awesome snack.

Another great snack is deli meat with cream cheese in a roll up. YUM!
Straight forward. Straight facts. Whether you like the truth or not... I'm not made of sugar coating

I dont see how i could east 3 oz of pork chops either that is way to much in meat for me anyway i can eay about 2 oz of tuna with some low fat dressing dressing on it then some mushed green beans. im 3 weeks out now and with that a slice of cheese chewed until it almost just cream again i like beats too. I also get sliced turkey meat its easy to chew real soft, i eat cottage cheese, crackers help my tummy when its nausious because they really just disinigrate in your mouth and like 4 will fill me and help with upset stomach. I have to remind myself to eat especially when im working or i forget during the week i eat like breakfast a protein shake only has like 15g of protein and 7 carbs- then lunch is some tune or turkey with cold green beans i tend to like the cold food better for some reason now not a hot meal and dinner will be the same or some cottage cheese and i always have a greek yogurt before bed to sit on my tummy with 2 servings of vitamin E in it to help healing. The weekends I probably eat like 6 small snacks a day. All still soft food.
