I got a question does one have to be on a liquid meal prior to surgery?

I've read some do, some don't. I had to be on a liquid diet for two weeks. For me it was worse than the surgery or post op so far.

Some do and others do not. I was for on one for a week. My husband for on one for two weeks!

All doctors have different protocol. Sometimes it depends on the patient. My pre-op diet is 2 weeks. It consists of 2 protein shakes and 2 meals of 4 oz meat and 2 servings of non-starchy vegetables.

I am having surgery with Dr. Alamanza and I am hungry!! He says 3 days liquid diet, I am cheating it a little, I have had some hummus and half a tortilla. Hopefully its ok, I just started taking a shot of apple vinegar, it helps with the hunger.

Is hard to have to have a liquid diet prior to the surgery. How did you know about the liquid diet before the surgery, did they tell you this when you first came down or before you came to Mexico?

I have been on 2 x protein shakes daily, with 1 meal at dinner time of protein and non starchy vegetables. I do get a fruit after lunch plus daily water requirement. I try very hard with that one. This started 2 weeks before surgery. I have 6 more days to go. Surgery is on 2/9/15. I could eat a horse by 3pm. LOL.

Wow I would want to eat a chow too, I guess that's a good practice to adapt to prior to surgery. I wonder is that something that I should adapt to also.
