Don't be too hard on yourself. Tomorrow is a new day and you can do well. When I'm hungry, I look for 2 things.. more protein and more water.

Sorry you feel hungry all the time. I have the opposite problem I very rarely have hunger and i almost have to remind myself to eat. Nothing you can do now but move forward.. if that happens again maybe choose a sugar free brand? some of them are wonderful

I too have been craving sweets. I try to substitute them with sugar free Popsicles ... I should buy stock in the company!

That darn ice cream! My worst craving is always ice cream. Sometimes you just have to eat it and go on. You've done really well so far, so you can't be hard on yourself, tomorrow's a new day. I get hungry a lot too. I think it's because we can't eat very much at one sitting, so it digests quickly and then we're hungry again. I snack on a cheese stick or a few almonds and that fills me up enough to take the edge off.

Ok, so you gave in and had ice cream. You indulged your inner child. Now you just need to send it back to it's room and find something that works for you that's healthy instead. Perhaps fat free milk with some sf choc syrup in it, put in the freezer for a while and then blended? I hear you on hungry, but it seems like it's about having enough liquids, too. I'd hoped to be less hungry than this but maybe it's a brain thing as well as a ghrelin thing or we misinterpret gas for hunger? Warm tea helps sometimes....as does literally turning off the tv during commercials...

Today is a new day. We all have setbacks at time. The key is that we don't make a slip a habit.

Eggface has recipes for protien ice cream on her website. You also might try some of the different protein bars, I had one last night and it nipped my sweet craving immediately.

Well, at least you didn't have dumping syndrome, and part of having the sleeve is learning how to eat again. For me to stop having sugar/flour cravings I have to give them up, period, aside from the starches my insurance wants us to have as part of our post-op diet (whole grain crackers, toasted bread, but NO pasta, no rice (This is the hardest for me, I LOVE brown rice) no untoasted bread, ever.)

They sell these tiny little containers of Ben and Jerry's at some places, but you might want to consider just giving up the sugar. It will suck for awhile, then you'll feel SO.MUCH.BETTER. You could also try going to a few FA (Food Addicts) meeting and just see how you feel about them-they do portion control, no flour no sugar. If you find them too strict, you could try OA.

But definitely tell your doctor you are still hungry and craving sugar. S/he needs to know that.

You should try Kemp's frozen yogurt! It's doubled churned so it tastes EXACTLY like smooth ice cream but with half the calories/sugar/carbs. The cookies and cream flavor is my favorite and I never feel guilty while eating it

I spend an awful lot of time looking at "food porn" but healthy kind! Eggface is great, this morning was all ChocolateCoveredKatie.com - I am about to go try making her "boatmeal" in a bit with added protein. She also has an ice cream recipe that is 40 calories for a HUGE portion... For some reason, looking at all this food actually takes my mind OFF being hungry and instead I want to make all these great healthy recipes and I end up spending hours looking them over and deciding which to try and copying them to my phone/tablet and making shopping lists. And all that time I forget to eat Its a great distraction when I am hungry and just not ready to eat again. And the acid reducer twice a day helps with that "hungry" feeling too.

Its a strange thing, but I also love ice cream in any way, shape, or form!! But last week someone brought me a blizzard to work and I thought yuuummmm, but took a few bites then got real busy and couldn't finish it. Well when I went back to it, it was warm and soupy, eeeewwww. I took one bite and threw the rest away...I think that took care of my cravings for awhile, lol!!!
Don't worry about an occasional cheat. We will all do it. Sometimes more than not. Last few weeks I felt that all I was doing was grazing all day long, so I decided that I needed to STOP buying the crap that isn't good for me and to get back to what I need to focus on. I have done pretty good, but I am human and I have 45 years of bad habits that I deal with every single day so I just deal!!

It is not the end of the world. You can't deprive yourself of everything. You will be miserable and you won't succeed.

I am new at this, so who knows what is going to happen to me in a few months, but in the short term I found a way to get around sweet cravings. I take a container of strawberry flavored greek yogurt, mix it with a 1/4 cup plain greek yogurt and 1/2 a scoop of unflavored protein powder. Run it through the food processor. Then I put 1/8 cup in a small plastic container and put them in the freezer. Frozen, sweet and creamy. My brain is silenced. I am going to work on a version that uses sugar free Hersey's syrup. I will let you know how that works out.
    Best,
    JLE
