Protein Bars

What brands of protein bars are you using? Right now I am using the Adkins but they are so expensive. I am a tow truck driver so need to be able to keep something in the truck with me.

Go to Walmart, buy one of every one that looks good. Try them, if you like them, buy the bigger packs. I love the Luna Lemon Zest ones. I'm all for Walmart prices!

I used quest bars. They had flavors that I enjoyed and I could switch it up. I really liked the double chocolate and the chocolate peanut butter. When I wanted something different I ate the berry flavors.

I had surgery on 12/4/14, just 5 days before you. I am in N. Texas. I am thinking of trying to find a good protein bar. Let me know what you find. I will look on pinterest , but looking for something to crunch on. I like chocolate, but recently became allergic to peanut butter.

I second the Quest bars. Best protein/carb ratio, but Atkins to taste much better to me at least.

Whatever kind you get, watch the carbs/sugar. They vary greatly. Some may have 40 g of sugar which is more than my daily allowance.

How far out rom surgery did you try protein bars? My doctor says I can try whatever I like but I am still a little afraid to try them yet.

I like the Pure Protien Bars... I buy them from Sams club. 20G Protien, 2G Sugar, and 17G Carbs... Chocolate Peanut Caramel and Chocolate Salted Caramel are two of my favorites

I am at 14 months post surgery but my Dr. told me from day one to keep them on me at all times so I don't get hungry.

Whenever you decide to try them, just take it slow and you'll be glad you did.

MetRx crispy apple pie. 400 cal ( eat 1/2)31g protein, LOVE them, i'll eat them until I can no longer look at them - Neurotic yes.

I also love the Atkins (Meal replacement) protein bars..and have also bought a few of the snack bars (chocolate coconut for those craving times). But I also like the Quest and ZonePerfect bars. Oh..and ThinkThin..these are like chocolate wafers. Yummy. I can buy any of these at my local grocery store.

I hate the chewy ones ..I like the ones that make me feel like I am eating a granola bar.

Quest is pricey but I love them and at only 160 cals, max 5 carbs and 20-21 gms protein they are the best...they taste good too! Lots of different favors to choose from and you can order them online if you can't find them while on the road
