Please keep me posted, how it goes
Please email me after you're done, I'm in your same shoes, scared, tired of being heavy and considering the same doctor you're doing your surgery with. Where would you do your follow ups? After surgery.
Those that are going to surgery soon, please keep me posted on how it goes. I'm considering flying to Mexico but a little scared since is ways off from where I live etc. tell me all details about the place they take you, the doctor the surgery the facility etc. also want to know where do you go after if you need to follow up. Does surgeon refer you to a local doctor in the town you live?
I am having it done on the 21st of this month, and was where you are last year; a little scared but I knew I wanted to do it. Visiting their website and reading practically hundreds of patient testimonials and seeing lots of people like me helped me take the next step. The staff has also been quite helpful in answering questions to my satisfaction. So far, I am looking forward to having mine done next week, and I am going all alone! Any sleevers out there in Atlanta ? Hope this has helped some...
I certainly will let you know when I get back. As for follow up, your regular physician or any local bariartric doctor could see you. From what I understand, your diet and how well you adhere to what they tell you to do determines how successful your outcomes will be. Don't be scared. There are other patients on the forum who are willing to talk to you if you contact them.
With surgery only 10 days away, I have finally realized that I don't have a regular doctor anymore!! The doctor my family & I have been going to for 14 years has moved to Colorado. Not sure what to do about post op care now. I have tried to find a doctor that I can get into, but the earliest appointment I can get as a new patient is MAY!!! My other option is to find a doctor in OKC which is 140 miles away. I think I may just have to bite the bullet & get someone in OKC. Question for those of you who have already been sleeved.....Is it a big deal if I don't have a doctor when I come home? I'm a bit worried.
Hi!
I am working with Medicaltourismco.com. Within minutes I had pricing from multiple doctors and locations in Mexico.
i have chosen Beautiful Puerto Vallarta. I am self pay and got a package (surgery, 1 nite hosp, 1nite hotel) for $5500 i also liked the option for single incision option for $850 more. I would head there sooner than later but have to wait til early May.
I will probably be going by myself, which makes me nervous. But should be fine...right???
Just fyi--my experience was decent there. Not great. Not bad. I would say good. He did a GREAT job on my sleeve though.
I am 3 years post op. Zero complications. Excellent restriction and a tool for life. I will give Almanza all the credit for performing a top notch surgery and keeping me at goal for a looong time. I am happy to hear he is at a new hospital. Please don't be afraid. Just speak up for yourself if you feel like you need to while you are there. That's the best advice I can give you.
Never needed a doctor for aftercare but would have used a local urgent care clinic for any problems such as taking stitches out or infected stitches if that does happen (it doesnt' happen that often but occasionally). I use any lab test now for my labs. You just walk in and pay for your labs and they take your blood and run the tests you need. I had ZERO complications
My insurance won't cover this surgery either because they dropped dropped this coverage a few years ago. I had the opportunity to get gastric bypass at that time, but it was awfully invasive and I didn't like the potential side effects.
I've saved a little at a time, socked away tax refunds until I had enough. Unfortunately, I had to dig into my savings, so it took half of what I had. So i had to research less expensive options. There are credit options available but i've yet to research them on this site.
