I have a lousy cold with fever. Tylenol is not helping with the fever (low grade). My entire family has this cold. Can I take Ibuprofen to break the fever. I don't think once will hurt. Just need some reassurance. Just happen to have a post op appointment tomorrow morn.

I would call your doc's service and ask the question. Ibuprofen has an adverse effect leading to gastric bleeds. You have a newly formed tummy. If it was me, I would call him or her before taking anything outside of what is recommended.

I wouldn't. I would call your surgeon right now. I am sure they have someone on call. You might need antibiotics if you have an infection that is causing the fever. but I was told absolutely no ibuprofen. better to be on the safe side. feel better!

I wouldn't risk it this early post-op. Your stomach is still recovering and has a healing incision, and ibuprofen is tough on the stomach. Ride out the fever and/or keep trying with the tylenol. It's just a cold - not worth risking a bleed for this.

I was nervous about taking any NSAID. Thanks all. You just confirmed how I was really feeling. I see my Dr. tomorrow for a post op appt. I can wait till morning. My entire family has this so I am not concerned about my sleeve. Sore throat, swollen glands. Tummy feels fine!! Thank you all!!
