Approved for surgery!

Hi there all,

I have literally been on cloud 9 all day! I called the insurance company to get a status on my case and boy was I excited when she came back on the line and informed me my case had been approved as of today! So I hung up with them and called my doctors office and they scheduled me for my pre-surgical consult this coming Monday 9/15 at 3pm. I have never been so excited to a doctors visit in all my life lol. This has been a really long time coming and I am beyond ready to begin life again minus thise excess weight weighing me down. I will follow up after my visit and let you guys know what my surgery date is....looks like after work I can go shopping for protien shakes for my liquid diet.

I am very happy for you. Congratulations!

My only word of advice is follow the surgeon's, nurse's & nutritionist's instructions pre/post and everything should go smoothly.
Also, learn as much as you can and don't be afraid to ask questions. If you can go to a surgical weight loss support group, you can listen to 1st hand from people who will be preparing like you until their surgery dates and from veterans who had the procedures.

That is great news! Good for you. You're already a knockout without the surgery- so I can only imagine down the road a few months! Houston better watch out!

I just got approved today and I have so many emotions now I don't know what to do! I also live in Houston and thinking of scheduling the surgery 10/27/14. Good luck to you!

Well, I have a dummy date of 10/8 but my case is a little different because I have two insurance carriers that I am trying to get to cover the surgery so I can pay as little as possible. I just got approved by my primary (the one that matters the most) BCBS and next week we will submit to my secondary UHC to get approved. After that I should get a date. I am pretty sure I should be scheduled for a date in October though. Either way I am getting the surgery whether it is one insurance covering it or both :-)

Brownas5...okay I see. Cool. Monday I'll know what my date is. I can hardly wait. I want to have it asap because Nov 6 th im going on a short 4 day cruise. It would be great to have already started my healing and journey prior to that. I really dont want to have to wait until November but we shall see! Im happy and excited for us both.
