10 year lapband and have to get it our and consider a sleeve

Hi everyone

I am a lapband veteran with 10 years of good and bad and when the bad got too bad I had to make the decision.
My band surgeon suggested to get a sleeve instead now but is retired. So my new surgeon had things lined up for after mid July (no exact date yet) but I am still in a bit of a struggle since I had horrible GERD 5 years ago until my band was opened. I had my barium swallow and my gastroscopy and things don't look too bad but I have a small hernia and suffer from Pseudoachalasia.

If there is any of you out there who has a sleeve with a diagnosed Pseudoachalasia PLEASE tell me how you are doing!!!

My cousin had good results with the band. That is, until it started failing. It would slip and he couldn't eat for 2 days. He was putting weight back on because it would slip to where he could eat way too much. Or he could only get creamy, oily foods through without having to vomit. So those foods made him gain as well. Anyhow, after troubles with his band for too long, he had it removed and sleeved at the same time. The band caused serious scar tissue and fused to his liver. Get that thing out of you!

Yes I know that the band will come out that is already certain but I am not sure about the sleeve. I would like to have the sleeve but I am so scared to get myself into constant GERD. It was horrible back when I was not able to sleep without suffocating on my own stomach content 100 times a night. I could not be able to take that again. If I would know that a bigger bougie would solve that problem. Do you ever have trouble with acid reflux? What size is your bougie?
