Default ? For sleevers who have passed 6 months post

We have all heard about the 6 month honeymoon phase post sleeve. They say it's when you lose the most weight and that weight loss dramatically slows at this point ( but If there is still a substantial amount of weight to lose it's concerning that it slows) I have been a very slow loser with many stalls in about 60 more days I will be six months post surgery. I still have about 60 lb to lose and am concerned I might not get to goal. I'm eating 800-1200 calories alternating to keep my body guessing, I get in 90grams of protein in and am exercising. The only thing that needs improvement is pure water intake I probably only get in the 64 oz. has anyone been a slow loser and continued to see big weight loss after six months, and is there any additional advice for me. I was 243 day of surgery. Thanks in advance.

I find my weight loss has slowed way down at this one year mark. I'm not sure how much more I will lose, I'm trying for 12 more pounds. But like all skinnier people its an accomplishment to lose 5 pounds where when I was heavy I could gain 5 pounds in a day. Just keep doing what your doing. I'm thinking I need to add weight lifting.

I'm 10 months out and have lost about 125lbs and just a few pounds away from onederland....the stalls seem longer too, I'm hoping to get under the 200 mark before my year follow up in mid July.

Jessica! Looks like you have lost 53 lbs in 4 months! That is amazing! Could you do that before your surgery? I know I couldn't! Please remember that every body has its own pace. Relax, do your part, and together with this nifty new tool, your body can do its part.

Of course your weight loss will be faster when you are your heaviest. Then you have to work harder, the closer you come to your goal, to first reach it, and then maintain. Ugh. The M word. A concept many of us just couldn't grasp!

So try to be patient with this process, and learn the lessons along the way.

I have not faced the challenges yet, of stallls, etc. as I am an infant sleever at 9 days. But I understand the desire for quick results. It is is ingrained in us. When tbe results are fast, we want them faster!

I hope to remain patient with my process. I hope to find my inner Zen and enjoy this journey on my way to better health and increased confidence.

I kept losing after 6 months, but as expected the rate of loss slowed down over time. It was slower but I didn't have to try any harder or change anything in order to get to my goal weight (and actually I passed it without particularly trying to before my weight found its equilibrium). The rate of loss slows down because your body needs fewer calories the lighter you are, so the ratio of calories used:calories consumed drops as you lose weight.

We have very similar stats but my surgery was a year prior. Definitely at the 6 month mark it slows down. I lost about 10 pounds per month after the 6 month point then it dropped off to 5 pounds and now it is 1-2 pounds. Now I try to eat more to maintain, never imagined that!!Good luck on your journey, it is amazing!!!

6 1/2 months post - weight loss has slowed. lost about 10 pounds a month early on - It seems like I am only losing a pound every two weeks now but I am down 20 pounds from late February - I am fairly close to goal (within 20 pounds) - I have been a slow loser all along but started a bit less than many so I know that has to be taken into consideration. I do see lots of posts though and I remember that the dr said very clearly that it was a journey & you could expect to lose your weight over the first 1 to 1/2 years - I believe they said the "average" weight loss is 60-80% of your excess weight. Looks like you are doing well!!

At 6 months, I continued to weight at a pretty steady basis. I set a goal of 175 lbs (I'm 5' 8"), and am trying to maintain above 150 lbs. I know this sounds crazy, and believe me, I'm not bragging, but I'm losing more weight than I wanted. Right now I weight 148 lbs, and actually had to make an additional appointment with a nutritionist to discuss this issue. I've increased my protein, but get the "full" feeling after about 4 oz of chicken and salad. I'm eating several small frequent meals, so I guess we'll see how that works out. So in a nut shell, I didn't hit that wall at 6 months, hopefully I will soon.

So glad to here this we are about the same height and same starting weight. Hope I keep losing. Can I ask how many calories you were eating a day before you increased your calories to gain weight.?

I hit the mother of all stalls at month six. It lasted just short of eight weeks. I tried everything and finally decided to chunk the whole kit and kaboodle and start from scratch. I modified everything from hydration, exercise, how many times a day I ate, what I ate, vitamins, and exercise. I finally hit on the combination of things that worked best for me and lost more weight in the next four months than I did in the previous eight. In fact, I lost, on average, 30 lbs a month for the next four months, never stalled again, and felt better than I ever had.

    Moral of the story?

Be flexible. Don't be afraid to jump out of your comfort zone and try new routines.

30 lbs a month for 4 months? And at 8 -12 months out? That is incredible!

I'm be 8 months in a couple of days and since my six-month checkup I'm averaging 8.3 pounds per month. If I can keep that up for a few more months I will be well under my goal.

I am past six months and I am still losing but it does slow down. I also find that I am fighting that see-food-eat-it battle again. I have to constantly keep reminding myself that I am not really hungry and that there are much better things to do that eat. I also am not on the scale everyday so I sometimes forget to check in. I am still tracking my food, water and exercise so I know I am eating well. But it does seem to change after six months. I am only 11 pounds from my goal. I am going to buckle down so I am at goal by my birthday in July.
