I am meeting with my surgeon this week to go over everything. What questions were important for you to ask? What questions do you wish you would have asked?
Did a great deal of research before my visit but still had so much to learn. Found out that i didnt know enough to know what to ask. Many of your questions can be answered by folks who have been there through this forum. You may want to order a book that I have found extremely helpful from Amazon. The book is "Weight Loss Surgery: The Real Skinny" by Dr. Nick Nicholson. My visit with my Dietician helped a lot too.
If you have insurance, be sure you clearly understand your insurance coverage and requirements. Call your insurance company before your appointment and get all the facts. Don't expect your doctors office to know. Be prepared.
Most of all, ask yourself why you are doing this. The sleeve is a tool that you will need to learn to use. This is a life changing event so take your time and be sure you are ready. This is not th easy way although it can be the fastest.
Good Luck - Bonnie
I hardly asked any, as the information was so much, I felt they answered everything I was going to ask anyway. I did ask if I'd be able to pick up my toddler soonish afterwards. They said not for two weeks, but I had to before this (after about a week), and luckily it was fine. They gave me all the info on what to eat after, what supplements to have, etc. it's all been pretty clear, though I stopped my Losec when I felt better, then was told I have to have it til at least 4 months. All good. Good luck with your appointment :-)
Thank you for the suggestion. I read the book last night and was able to have a great conversation with my husband about how the various people's relationships were affected by the procedure. We are a great team and he is always supportive, so I am not concerned about problems, but it was good to talk about all of the what ifs.
