It does happen. A lot of it has to do with your body and how quickly you heal. Our bodies go through major trauma with the surgery, the anesthesia and the recovery and people bounce back at their own pace. Also, your body will lose at its own pace. We all expect to lose oodles of weight right away and for the vast majority of us that doesn't work. We didn't get to our surgery weights overnight and we won't lose the weight overnight either.

If you haven't already done so take your measurements. Usually if you're not losing weight you're losing inches. I prefer fitbit because they track 8-10 different measurements. Stick with it; you'll be okay.

I agree wit the others get that protein up we all stall . Make sure you're getting the fluids and some exercise in and then wait. It's not gained over night. Doesn't come off over night.
On the protein .. my doc. Tested my pealbumin level.. even w 60 grams a day , I am low. So now bumping to 75 grams.. protein is a big big deal. She also recomends tracking even tho you don't eat a lot. Helps you keep an eye on what you taking in in fat sugar and carbs sodium. Calories n protein. I find my fitness pal very helpful. I just ignore the comments about not eating enough lol. My nutritionist isn't pressing calories (I'm averaging 800-900) she's pressing protein. Low carbs fat n sugar. I keep those numbers well under goal. I always stall. But right now 12 weeks out n 55 lbs down including pre diet. My avg is 3 lbs a week, and that will slow down. Others may loose quicker esp in the. Beginning. We are all different and we will all loose

Personally, I'm a big fan of 80-100g of protein per day. My typical day includes: two protein drinks (Chike coffee and another of some variety - Syntrax Nectar or Unjury, both totalling 40-45 g), one Quest Protein Bar (20 g), and some form of meat for lunch and dinner that usually totals 20-30 g. Then between fat free yogurt, low-fat cottage cheese, and the occasional sprinkling of shredded cheese, I add up to 20 g more.

So, at ~1,000 calories/day, I'm losing weight steadily (2-3 lbs/week), I exercise regularly (elliptical, belly-dancing), and most importantly, I feel really healthy. My daily total carbs range 80-130g, sugars 15-40g, fat 25-50g.

    This works for me... YMMV.

You should be getting at least 60g protein and max 80g and at least 64 oz of water. (My instructions say protein does NOT count as water) 2 Premier Protein (Costco) = 60g. You'll be back on track if you up your protein.
    Good luck!

Try plain yoghurt (no sugar, but you can add a sweetener like Splenda/stevia), pre-made chicken stock (I froze mine into ice cube trays), beef stock, protein shakes. That was my diet for the first week post-op. I had also frozen a chicken soup I'd made that makes a great purée with a big protein hit (roast a whole chicken and leave to cool, then shred. Spray a casserole dish with oil, add chopped onion and cook til softened, add 4 cups (at least) of chicken stock, 2 celery stalks chopped, 2 carrots, sliced. Bring to the boil and simmer til veggies are soft. Add the chicken, season to taste, blend into a purée with a blender, and either serve straight away or pour into ramekin dishes - only a bit per dish!- and freeze. Enjoy!).

I lose 0 pounds the first 2 months after surgery and after that 1 pound a week was a good one. But fear not it will come off, and it all seems to catch up in the end! Don't panic =)

Thank you so much for your reply Mscheveous. We've all had the same surgery, but each of our bodies are so different right?! I am trying to keep the faith, but I have to tell you that this is very discouraging, especially when everybody else in my group has lost at least close to or more than 30 pounds and all I can think is.....I want that to be me !

One of the first things my surgeon told me was not to judge my weightloss as compared to someone else's. It was so hard not to do that in the beginning when I'd see people one month out and 50 down. Then I finally stopped looking at other's numbers and focused on my own. Everyone is different. Just because you haven't lost yet doesn't mean you won't. You are sleeved now and that means YOU WILL NOT FAIL. Say that to yourself as many times as you can and you will believe it eventually because it is true! Just be patient. Your body is recovering right now from a major surgery. The weight will come off when your body is ready. That's the biggest thing I've learned: listen to your sleeve and body. If you do this, get your protien and fluids, and never over eat, you will succeed. It just takes a little time.

I felt/feel the same way, trust me! I want to be the one that has hit goal already..I go to meetings where people 6 months out are already hitting theirs and I get jealous! But, when I can regain my jealous self and remember, at least it is still coming off...I never had that happen! I would of regained and added a lot *laugh* BUT, I sympathize and feel it with ya!

By rules I mean that I am eating the things they have told me that I can eat. Except I am not getting enough protein and enough water. I think those things are hindering me. I'm not much of a precise measurement type person and sometimes I wonder if I am over doing it (eating). I am getting adjusted (kicking and screaming) to my new stomach and my new lifestyle changes.
