    Default Throat restriction?

    Good morning, gang!

Anyone else have a feeling, several times a day, of their throat constricting? Almost like it's being squeezed lightly. It does not hurt, but is a bizarre, and most definitely not normal feeling. I'm about 10 minutes out from my next "meal" and haven't had a drink for about 10 minutes. I realize we were likely intabated (spell check?? lol) during our procedure, so I had been writing it off to maybe a throat irritation due to this.

Anyone else experiencing this sensation, and does it go away in time? It recently has made me feel somewhat nauseous.

I think it's too long since surgery to still be feeling something like that from the tube (see, I avoided spelling it. lol). I am only commenting because I have noticed a tightness, but I only notice it when I take pills. I used to be able to get any pill past my throat, and now the little ones feel like they are getting stuck sometimes. It's probably all in my head, but I thought I would share.

Thanks for your reply...I'll give it a bit more time to disappear, and then if it doesn't, maybe go to Ear, Nose, Throat doc to see what he can see. It's an unsettling feeling.

I am 2 1/2 months out and I get that feel sometimes after I drink really cold water....(I can only tolerate drinking ice water thru a straw...any other way makes me gag) It doesn't happen often, but every now and then I feel like my throat is closing up, but it passes very quickly. I've been chalking it up to the cold water....

Un-related but maybe similar - I had cervical fusion in November and still have trouble swallowing. If my allergies are up in arms; I REALLY have problems swallowing. Last Friday DR said, your throat may still be "recovering" from the surgery and allergies can inflame it. Though different surgeries, both probably irritate your throat something severe, for VSG you would have had a breathing tube and balloon tube. For neck surgery I had a breathing tube and it all that had to be pulled to the side so they could get to my neck. Am I stretching to tie throat irritation together, IDK? It kinda makes sense.

Thanks, Sunman71, that actually could have something to do with it. I'm in the great state of Oklahoma (rolling my eyes, as an allergy sufferer) and the allergy season is kicking even non-sufferer's tails. There may be a correlation.
