    Default A quick post-op question..

Heat kills me. I HATE heat. I hate summer, I hate the weather. My mother thinks that once I get the surgery and start losing weight that I will be able to bare the heat and will be comfortable in it. Is this true for any of you? Have you been able to adjust to heat better? Because It's only 65 degrees and I'm already sweating and just angry because of the heat.
I had my sleeve at 19 and would do it all over again

I used to be like that too. Since the sleeve, freezing all the time! Seriously, I would be the person just wearing a sweater when it snowed here yrs ago. Now, I have to wear a sweater almost all the time at work. Another friend of mine thats two yrs out says he sleeps with an electric blanket yr round. This may or may not happen to you.....but it does make surviving the heat better:-)

I agree. I used to be able to walk around with a T-shirt all the time and I never wore anything more than that, even in winter. However now I often feel cold and now understand why people like to move to a warmer location when they get older. I had to buy some jackets and coats. Its actually nice as its always easy to get warmer by putting on more cloths but its impossible to cool down when too hot. I think you will enjoy the feeling of not being hot once your weight comes off.

When I was 273 pounds, I spent every minute of every day dripping sweat, I hated it, it was so gross. I hated going out in public. Now I am so cold all the time, 83 lbs of insulation are gone off my body and I am cold, I cant wait for summer and sunshine. I have broken a sweat anywhere except on my treadmill and I even went dancing and stayed out on the floor with my girlfriends for 4 or 5 songs in a row without breaking a sweat!!! That was so awesome!!

I have an intolerance to cold icant stand it.. I get so mad that i have to wear so much under my scrubs now to be warm, and I never had this problem, so I think with giving the history of people I see on here u are going to have a good summer.

GIRL... you will miss being hot. I know I crave 90 degree days now, the hotter the better and I never sweat.. I think it's been two years since I was able to do anything without a sweater of three layers on. I live in Ohio, so our winters get pretty cold. I now have a heater at my desk at work, I wear thermal leggings under my jeans just to keep from freezing to death when I walk from the car to the door, can't be in a restaurant or movie theater, ever, without freezing and needing a coat. It's a HUGE difference. You're losing all of your insulation, you're gonna be cold! C'mon, you know your mama is always right too

I used to not wear a coat in the winter unless I was going to be out in the cold for an extended period of time. I live in Michigan and now after the surgery I am freezing all the time. Don't know how I will handle the heat, I hope ok, because I'm moving to Southern California in September.

    Hey Bec,

I live in Louisiana and it is muggy hot ALL the time! Last summer was like brutal and I never went outside unless I was at the ballpark then I just sat in my chair. Well I feel like this Summer I will have a little less "insulation" and I can wear clothes that are a little less clingy. I actually feel cute in a tank..even though I still have a muffin top...it's not as big as it used to be. lol

Also everyone is telling the truth...all of a sudden you are cold when it's slightly chilly.

    When is your surgery?

Hoping late June/Early July. We've decided that we waited this long we're going to wait until after graduation which is June 14.

You will be able to handle it better, but like others have said, you may feel cold. I find this to be true especially now that we have the air conditioner on. Hubby is sweating and I am in a sweater. I was freezing all winter long, and in this part of Texas, we only get a couple of week's worth of real cold. I have no idea how this summer will go. I imagine I will still have problems when it gets into the high 90s, but I am hoping it won't be as bad.

I have never been so ready for summer! I have been so cold this winter, I cannot ever seem to get warm! I have a sweater that is now overly bulky that I wear when I walk out on the plant floor because I am cold. That being said, I HATE being hot, always have, but it will be better than being cold. It takes a hard workout to make me sweat now, so I am hoping I have more tolerance for heat.
