Yay - another Aussie! Welcome!
I used to eat to the point that I physically could not swallow another bite but still felt hungry.... Now I can feel 'sort of' hungry but it's gone within 3 bites. Head hunger can be dealt with using water alone but I need to remember that, not just know it. Before I would go to Maccas and buy a large Big Mac Meal to eat at home and a Fillet of Fish to eat on the way home. Now (at 4 months out) I've experimented and I can eat about 3/4 of the bottom section (bottom bun, sauce, meat, no top bun) of a Big Mac and about 5 fries. That leaves the equivalent of a cheese burger left over from the entire Big Mac (the entire top section). Then you have to chew the meat quite well and trust me, when you thoughtfully eat Maccas, it no longer feels good. The texture is gross. You learn fairly quickly that there isn't much point.
It was nothing to eat an entire large packet of Burger Rings or Cheese and Bacon Balls. Those things you still have to be careful of because they slide right through your sleeve. Anything slightly dense fills you up vey quickly though.
Now - I eat mainly rare roasted eye-fillet beef cut into bite size pieces. Just the meat with a different flavouring on the outside for change. At the moment it's lemon pepper. I've found cookies & Cream Quest bars - need to order into Aus from USA- are a great snack for when I'm craving sweet during the day. Again, I dice them up into small bite size pieces. Gives me an extra 20 grams of protein and few calories. Feels way too naughty to be that good for you but it is. I also love lady finger bananas and Chobani yoghurt - it has the most protein in it. I do drink OJ and protein powder every now and then but am trying to get away from that.
My occasional naughty treat now is about 1/2 a cup of ice-cream with Milo on it or two pieces of dark chocolate with a cup of tea after dinner.
