Thanks for your honesty. Fix it now before you gain more. Weigh daily and write it down. Go back to shakes and basics. You can do it.

First, I understand your frustration. Second, I am sadly sorry that at least now I don't feel alone. Yes we can gain it back. It's more than a physical thing to overcome. Face it, we didn't gain weight by hating food and all of the glorious facets of food. We like the way it tastes no matter how unhealthy or fattening. Sometimes a hot tea or protein shake in place of that donut just WONT do! I too have fallen victim to my own mind and said, oh that one bagel didn't hurt, maybe I can put cream cheese on it too. Maybe since that bagel didn't hurt, I can have that pasta as well. It's about fidning peace with food and what we can and can't handle. You can do it, and so can I!

Nothing is permanent except for true life changes. That is not to say a donut here and there will make or break you. The sleeve, just like by-pass is a tool... I am young to this and not years into it, but the struggle is the same. Take a moment, reevaluate and start anew... We are people of the second chance. With the right mind set, your goal is within reach.

Brian, thank you for your courage to share your story. It needs to be told. Please don't go back to a diet but go back to the basics: protein, water, exercise. Rinse. Repeat. Don't beat yourself up if you eat the donut - we all need treats and it seems to me you have to relearn the fine balance of working with your sleeve. It's not to too late. It's never too late. Don't give up on you. And yes, it sucks. But you can totally turn this around.

And yes, Stephanie - either bypass or sleeve is a lifelong commitment. We all wander off our paths from time to time - life tends to throw us curves along the way. But it's never too late either. I don't judge anyone because everyone's journey is their own. I believe in the human possibility and I know that everything is possible given the right circumstances. We use the sleeve to sway the odds in our favor, but it's still a lot of hard work.

This is scary, how does it happen?
The stomach gets stretched? I thought that would be very painful to push down so much food.
I am dealing with so many stalls as is trying to convince myself that is how everything works but inside I am really scared.

I'm scared too that I will regain my weight. I have struggled the past month with not losing anything. I know I eat bad stuff here and there but I can't eat much so how in the world am I not losing? I now you will say the bad stuff add calories and I know it does but I can't eat much at all and then I stop. Do others hit a plateau like this? I'm exercising 6 days a week also. This really sucks.

Like others above have said, this is the place to come for support. I want to support anyone and everyone now so that we will all be here to support me when I need it, and I know I will. I will have problem times just like those in this thread and I want us all to feel like this is a place to come and be honest. I like what ximmia says - go back to basics - when I fell outside of my food plan during the holidays I told myself to commit to going back to basics for one week. If I have trouble after a week I'm come up with another plan. I was good. Usually if I can follow a plan for a week I am good to keep going.
I am so sorry that you are going through this rebound to old habits, come here again tomorrow and the next day and talk to us. We will try to help everyday. We all understand what you are going through and know what it is like to face what you are facing. Let us help!

I truly want to thank you for your honesty. Your post, and others like it have made me decide that I am going to see a therapist as well as have the sleeve done. My surgeon highly recommends it, but at first I was like "I've got this." Now I am more like "not so much." I clearly have used food for coping and blah, blah, blah. Hearing this is just the slap upside the head that I need to make sure I explore every avenue. I wish you the very best going forward and hope you find the balance you need.
