So tomorrow I go see the physiologists.... what should I expect?
I recently had mine and she was really nice. I felt very comfortable with her, and it was a great talk. I plan on going back after surgery to talk more.
She seemed to be looking to see how serious I was and how determined I was to lose weight. The point seemed to be, will I continue to be determined to lose weight after surgery. I explained my desperation to be healthy for my family, and I never focused on looking better. That is just a good side effect of improving your health.
Here is something that I noticed; she passively led the conversation and just let me talk. She would say things from time to time to keep me on point, but there was lots of time for me to talk. I know some people that would get in all kinds of trouble with that much free time to talk to someone, especially if you feel comfortable.
I think the positive is that they are looking to see if you are a good emotional candidate. Be honest with them, because if you aren't ready from an emotional stance, you probably need to work on that prior to surgery. In other words, relax and let the chips fall where they may, that way you get an honest response about how they think you will do after surgery. None of us want to fail, and if I'm going to fail, I want to know why so I can address it before it happens.
Sorry for the long response.
i took a few personality tests.. alot of questions about drugs? alcohol? Stress? think they want to make sure u arent gonna go crazy or be an alcoholic or anythng like that. Then she talked to me, about support groups and my support at home and stuff like that. and told me better ways to cope with stress. they made me feel comfortable and supported my 3 and 6 month follow ups are with them
Before I had my appointment my caseworker advocate told me the appointment was self pay.. I called my provider and wanted to know since it was both a insurance and program requirement why was this not covered by my insurance .. My insurance paid forit as well as my 3 visits with the dietitian .
She just asked me questions about my life
style ,reason for wanting surgery and my support system. I did take a personality test . She did tell me if I had any problems emotionally after surgery to fell free to call her because this is a life changing event .
