Question after a bit of advice please.

I haven't got a date for my surgery yet, I have been told it should be the end of feb beginning of March. In the meantime I have been doing as much reading as possible, so thanks to you all for taking the time to usually have asked and answered most of the questions I did have. I do however have one question.

I have been told and I have read all about the protein drinks that I will require before and after surgery. My big problem is I can not drink anything remotely along the milkshake route..........slimfast drinks make me physically sick, I can't even drink soya milk before anyone suggests that, I dont like the taste of milk or any kind of flavourings...........I dont even like ice cream, I dont like the taste or consistancy of it.........weird I know but hey its me lol. Are all those protein drinks along that line? I am in the UK so if anyone could suggest some ideas it would be great.

I have 2 suggestions. Here in the states we can order unjury chicken flavor and unflavored. They are both pretty decent options for adding to soups. I have also added the unflavored to fruit juice such as tomato or cranberry. Luckily for me I actually like the vanilla protein shakes so I dont do the unjury often. I bought them pre op thinking I could use them during my clear liquid phase post op. But my dr doesnt allow protein drinks till the full liquid stage. Mostly they just sit in my pantry. I wonder if you could find order unjury in UK or find something similar?

I have read a few posts about the "unjury" range but have not been able to find any here so far to try it. I know I will not be allowed it for a bit after the op but rather than waiting until then I was trying to find something I would like before hand.

I liked the Isopure protein drink, sort of like a Gatorade. 40 grams of protein per bottle. They sell them at Vitamin Shoppe or GNC. I'd try different flavors. If they're too sweet, do it half water.

Sraebaer nailed it! Isopure would be a great option!

    Here's the site on Isopure
Isopure Offers the Purest Whey Protein Isolate

Also, you can probably buy it from Bodybuilding.com for cheaper...they have the lowest prices of any supplement shop around!
Tons of products and flavors....you can buy powdered version or the RTDs (Ready-to-Drink). Naturally, the RTDs will be more expensive.

I still drink Isopure clear liquids. Works for me for protein. Green apple is pretty good.

Nectar protein. Has great fruit flavors (the Roadside Lemonade is fantastic) and the consistency is fine. Zero carbs, 100 cals per scoop. Can't go wrong.

Thanks everyone! Excited to try the Isopure and the Protein Ice. I've been using the Syntrax Nectar, Vanilla Bean Tort flavor. I like it fine, 23 grams protein in one scoop. I sometime will add skim milk, banana and even peanut butter to boost up the protein along with a Tbs of Nestles SF coco powder. I could use something different. Good luck Willow, your in the right place for help and good advice. Great website!
