Hello everyone!!!! I just want to say Thank you to everyone that has posted information about their weight loss journey. Your post are very informative. I am seriously considering having a gastric sleeve. My insurance does not cover it therefore I will have to pay. Does anyone know of any excellent affordable doctors? I live in Houston Texas but I am willing to travel.

I was a self pay also. Dr Thomas Borland in New Iberia Louisiana is 9800.00. The sleeve is done as an outpatient and you stay at a local hotel where he visits you. I had a great experience there. I was too much of a ninny to go to Mexico.

I went to Mexico, it was $500.0 down and then $4247.00 for Dr. Mario Almanaza. It was at a clinic on a Monday and outpatient and then you recovered the next few days (Tues, Wed, Thurs Morn) at a 4 star hotel with staff at your beck and call! It was a wonderful experience and I would not hesitate to send anyone there. My plane tickets were very cheap due to using Allegiant Airlines and flying into LA and renting a car to get to San Diego where they pick you up, but my husband and friend went with me and so the rental car a driving was no big deal at all. Flight home (Thursday late afternoon) was easy breezy for me, had appointment for followup with my own PCP the very next morning (everything was perfect) and I was back to work the following Monday.

Dr. Younan Nowzaradan was my surgeon. He is located in the Houston area. My insurance did not cover my WLS. Between the doctor and the hospital I paid $5,000.00 which is close to the prices in Mexico. He is a good doctor. Office address: 4009 Bellaire Blvd #K Houston, Texas 77025

Had my surgery 3-1/2 months ago in Tijuana with Dr. Ramos-Kelly. I had an awesome experience. Down 40 lbs. Pain was minimal; hospital was old, but super clean; I had excellent care (better than in the U.S.); I was scared too, but my husband went with me; he would not let me go into anything dangerous - I'm very happy with my decision.

Had my surgery in TJ. Dr Ismael Cabrera. Total costs including airfare from Florida was $5000.00. I would do it again in a minute! Worth every cent

I went through the company A Lighter Me with Dr. Elias Ortiz. I had the surgery in Mexico. I paid a little over $4,600 this included airfare. This is the best way to go. I am down 26 pounds in my first month after surgery. I was nervous about going to Mexico, but I can promise you there is nothing to worry about. I would do it all over again. I will be going back to TJ with my husband in June. He is next. Good Luck on your decision.

My doctor is in Boca Raton, FL and he charged me $10,500 all inclusive including 2 days in the hospital. There are several of us on here that have used him and not complications that I am aware of. Dr. Shillingford..........Good luck!!
