Default I tracked my food intake today

    And now I'm sad.

I have been feeling really low on energy, and just blah. I am 15 days post surgery and just not getting the "hang" of my new eating lifestyle.

In total today, I ate 290 calories. I just don't know how I am supposed to consume more than 200 MORE calories! And protein, let's not even go there...

I know the feeling! There are days I think I have really done well but then I calculate my intake and it is 400 cal. What about getting some cashews or other nuts you like? They are full of protein and caliories. I do not lose weight when my calorie intake is so low. What about cheese sticks? An occasional small serving of ice cream? Also I am in search of a protein bar I really like.

The protein drinks make me gag, I can't do it....

Oh also try eating more often. Keep a little bag of goodies with you all the time. Let me know what works for you!

I think when I was only a few weeks out my calorie and nutriten intake was awful and I felt like crap my blood work was not good etc. Once I started eating solid foods those numbers started coming up. Like today I did 700calories and and aobut 67g of protein, and only 40g carbs (I cheated today and had some sweetened lemonade). If you are still doing liquids some tips I learned was to puree tofu into what you are eating it will add protein without adding flavor.

    Good luck,
    Christina

My dr does not do post op blood work. If he did I'm sure he would not be happy!

I am on pureed foods, and it is tough. This morning for breakfast, I made a scrambled egg with (full fat) cheese. I was able to eat half. I had a tbsp of creamy peanut butter this afternoon, and am currently contemplating dinner (not that I'm hungry). I drink water and crystal light throughout the day. But that's it.

Ya know, I almost feel like I am in a foreign country----NOT GETTING ENOUGH CALORIES????? What the heck???? I can honestly say that I don't know a time in my life that I had to LOOK for calories---they used to just jump off of the cake on the counter onto my hips and I didn't even have to put any in my mouth!!!! That must be terrible (serious), today I tried the protein drink Unjury they have vanilla which I put in my coffee and thought that maybe I was pretty close to heaven. They also have an unflavored powder that might be something for you to try. Good luck to you.

I'm 4 weeks post op and I'm finally starting to feel my energy coming back. I've went to the gym to walk on the treadmill 3 days in a row and I'm feeling better every day. The main thing I'd say is give it more time. Keep drinking the protein drinks if you can. If they don't taste good, maybe try a different brand. You'll gradually be able to eat more.
