My one month "Surgiversary" is tomorrow Nov. 21st and I am caught in a little stall but I also have had some issues with using the bathroom! What can I eat, drink, or take to help me out with that? I know it might be TMI but I have no one else to ask and you all are so informative! My lifeline through this Journey! All responses appreciated! Would love to be able to find something in my pantry or kitchen to help out asap as i cant get to a store until Friday!!

I had and still occasionally have the same problem. I tried everything over the counter that I could possibly find. Nothing worked for me...fiber, Colace, Metamucil, suppositories. You name it and I tried it. It was so bad that I had to go to the dr and I considered the ER. They ended up giving me a medication called Linzess (It is normally prescribed for people with IBS w/constipation) Normal people are supposed to take it everyday but I only take it once a week and it has been the only thing that makes me go. I was going over a week at a time without going before this medication.

I'm at my 1 month point too, with same trouble. I've been upping my Milk of Magnesia dosage (full cap full at night now). I also have been taking Metamucil during the day, 2 or 3 times / day as it gives you some "volume" to work with. I was getting fairly frustrated, then today after my 1 month checkin I had turkey chili - and it did the trick. I could have had a much better weigh in if I ate the turkey chili for breakfast

Hopefully things will settle down as we eat a greater variety of "real food".

I have started taking a capful of Miralax every other day. At first I was taking once a day but I was back to the don't trust a fart routine so I switched to every other day for the last 2 months and its working. I was also having the same issue where it would be well over a week before I would have a BM and I kept thinking I need to start taking something but always forgot. My last bout with constipation I also thought about going to the ER... that's all that needs to be said on that subject, lol after that I started with the Miralax and I don't forget! Good luck don't let it go to long, find a solution and stick with it.

Miralax works wonders. My gastroenterologist told me to take 1 capful twice a day because I was so backed up. On the 3rd day I found relief! I love it, take 1 capful every few days, helps keep me regular. Best of luck!

I was just at my one week checkup with the surgeon today and asked about constipation. I went six days after surgery before having my first bm. He said they only recommend Mrialax.
