I would love to connect with any new or experienced sleevers in the Atlanta area. I am always on the search for more knowledge and I have found that those who have been through it provide the best information.

I've been sleeved for almost 7 weeks now. I have been blessed. My journey has been easy compared to many of the stories I've read.
Nausea once - after I tried re-fried beans for the 1st time since surgery - but no vomiting. No real pain - I didn't really need the pain med after the surgery but I admit I used it to sleep.
I have my 1st NUT visit since surgery. It'll be the 3rd time I've weighed since surgery - so, I am interested to see how much I've lost.
Good luck to you all and feel free to ask questions. I'll answer if I can. Take care.
I am ATL as well. I have not made up mind with the surgery yet. Not sure if I want the sleeve or pelication. Needing some advice here. Cigna pos will not cover any kind of weight loss surgery and do not know why, I am T2D and have a BMI of 40.7, and my thyroid is destroyed. I have heard, that even if surgery is not covered, your PCP can give the insurance company a letter of medical necessity. The problem: NO ONE will take the time to do this for me. I wish some one out there would help make this happen. Anyone have the same problem?
I saw Dr Duncan 7 years ago and never went through with the surgery, b/c of insurance issues. I know he is an excellent Surgeon, I have seen his work and have been to the seminars. I wonder if things have changed or if the office will handle everything for me this time.
My experience with the office was great. I went through Real Results. They provided me with a list of my insurance requirements as well as the surgeon's requirement. The office contacted the insurance company to determine what was required for approval.
I have a PCP who wasn't enthusiastic about my having surgery but understood why I wanted to have it. She had watched me struggle with my weight for years. I think the key is finding a doctor who understands your issues and is willing to write the letter you need to get the approval. I used Dr. Bettye Drye-Glover with Wellstar Douglasville.
Hello everyone, I am from Buford, Ga and will have my surgery in a month. I was supposed to have my surgery the end of this month but BCBS would not approve, it was strange I would call customer service and they said it was covered but the nurse reviewing my case said it wasn't and she wouldn't approve the surgery until it was in writing. My husbands company called and told them that it was in our insurance but they still denied. We kept going higher and higher at my husbands company until they finally approved. I was a mess and I actually was working on plan "B" getting insurance though my company but then it came through. It was very fustrating. Keep trying and good luck!
Traci - I wish you well and will add some prayers to that. It can be challenging but I think it's worth it when you know you need to change your life. Good luck and I look forward to reading about your sleeved life journey.
Time off work:
I took 8 weeks and I have to say....I am so glad I could and was able to. I have read about people who have gone back to work in a matter of days or perhaps a week.
I could not have done that and been successful, honestly.
I went back to work last week and it's been a challenge. I am up at 5 am to get in my exercise for the day - I have to do it in the morning or it's NOT going to get done. I put in my 8 hours and it takes all of my effort NOT to climb in bed when I get home at 6 am. I am drained. I know that a large part of that is due to the stress of my job but wow....my body is still adjusting to operating on 1000 calories or less.
How long are you ladies planning to take to recuperate and learn how to live your sleeved life?
