Almost 5 months postoperative stall and hair loss

I have stalled at 161 pounds....plus I'm losing like a butt load of hair. I'm taking my Biotin and drinking my shakes. I stay at a maximum of 850 to 900 calories a day, which is a stretch if I get that high. I'm within 30 pounds of my goal and starting to get bummed. Anyone else experience this this far out post op? Thanks.

I am just at 5 months and I do have a little hair loss but not to bad. I have been using Revita shampoo and conditioner. It is a follicle stimulator that will not stop hair loss but will speed up hair regrowth. I have been trying to do a balancing act with it. I was just at my stylist on Wednesday and he checked my whole head and I have 1" hairs all over the place. You can order it on Amazon it is a little pricey but really does work. I have lost 68 pounds and have about that much more to lose but I will get it done! Good luck to you!!

I'm almost 9 months post op and just reached my goal weight! I started losing hair 4 months out. It's definitely traumatic but it's temporary I'm told. Stalls are completely normal. You are doing great! Don't get discouraged. Good luck!!! I'm taking biotin too but not sure if it's helping.

i have bad hair loss - got my surgery a week after u - and have lost 35 lbs - am so far behind u - it can get discouraging - hang in and feel proud of urself - u have done a great job

I've lost 50lbs and I'm losing a lot of hair. My husband says there is a Sasquatch down the drain and he has to clean it out every 2 weeks. I've now added biotin and I've noticed a positive change in my hair quality. Weight loss has slowed a lot but I'm happy so far. Goal weight is still about 25 lbs away.

My cousin's hair kept falling out for about 8 months, but the amount got less and less. I can't imagine how frustrating it is (though we'll all experience it at some point!). Keep your chin up, keep up the hard work. I know it's a bummer and feels disappointing to not be at your goal yet but don't forget how amazingly far you have come!!! You can do it!

I also had a lot of hair loss. I noticed it slowed down at about the 9th month. As far as your stall, we all get them. What I noticed that worked for me was cutting back on carbs. I'm at goal and still watch my carbs. I try to keep it between 30 and 40 grams a day. All my carbs come from veggies and fruit. I don't eat breads, pastas, potatoes or rice. It really works and with every day that passes your body misses those carbs less. After a while you'll have no desire to eat them.

I think you look good at 161. I wouldnt get too concerned. Every time I think I am stalled, the weight loss starts back up. The hair loss is just a one time from what people have said. I have read that protein and biotin may not necessarily stop hair loss from happening. While your body is in rapid loss phase, it feels it has to shut non vital functions down and hair growth is supposedly one of those.
