    Default Smoker : (

I am a new ex-smoker...but was wondering if it is still o.k to use an e-vapor cigarette that has ONLY nicotine in it while doing the pre-op and post-op diet? This does eliminate all carcinogens, chemicals, and tar and is much healthier. Help because I'm really starting to nick out, lol.

I don't smoke - but my doctor said they do a nicotine test - and if any nicotine is in your system they will not do surgery. It slows down healing. Call your doctor and make sure - you do not want to prolong your wait for this awesome life change!!

    Best Wishes!

No, no, and no. If you must vape, get zero nicotine liquid. My doctor did three blood tests before surgery, and all looked for nicotine. If there had been any he would not have done the surgery. It impedes healing. Do yourself a favor and make this a total lifestyle change...quit, I did.

I don't smoke anymore. But doctor said in Seminar no Nicotine period. He won't even operate on a smoker until after they've been smoke free for 6 months. Says it can cause quite a few complications with the sleeve. He does a nicotine test before you get started on the journey and right before surgery. So, I'd say listen to others..call your doctor and see what his policy is...

Good Luck. Even though I've been smoke free for over 10 years, I do understand what it's like. I kicked cigs and then became a carb addict..lol.. now I'm trying to cure that..

How about a Hookah stick. It's just vapor, no nicotine at all. My little sister smokes them since she kicked the nick habit 6 months ago.

My Dr. said I had to quit, so I did.. after getting an E-cig to help me break the habit. They never did test for nicotine, but I suppose every one is different. I will say that if you don't totally kick the habit now, you will go right back to it after your surgery and all of your effort now will be a waste of energy. Quit for you ~ for your health (that is what this is all about, right?) Having the urgency of NEEDING to quit so you can start your new life is the best incentive that you could ask for. Best of luck to you ~ you can do this!!

Same thing my surgeon said. I quit almost 6 years ago using Chantix and it was a miracle for me! I've never wanted to start up again. Can't tell you how many times I quit in the past, cold turkey, only to start back again after a couple of years or less.

I feel for you, as I have never smoked.

I can, however tell you that smoking delays healing, and makes the risk of anesthesia way worse on your heart and lungs. You want to give your body the best chance of healing possible.

Cancer cured my desire to smoke. I mean it was instant too. You have cancer. Okay. I quit. Done. Over. Finished. Never picked up another cigarette.

My doc said i had to quit but i could still use the E-cigg. But i also work in a smoking environment. So i'm around second hand smoke a lot. which will still pop positive on a blood test for nicotine. But my doc said that I should be okay.

I use a vapor cig, and have for a year now!!!! If you get the "right" ecig you will not want another "analog" cig There are cheap imitations at the gas stations, and they are not going to give you the "throat hit" ( smokers you know what I mean). Please feel free to email me and I will get you the info you need to keep you on track and away from analogs

There are so many variations of ecigs, and juices on the market. I want to make sure you stay away from the juices made in china, and find a reputable person in your area that makes the juices, or you can order from reputable people that sell mods, tanks, and the cartomizers you will need!!!

I have become very knowledgable with ecigs over the last year, and I want to pass my knowledge along to keep people away from analogs

Just wonder...anybody know if second hand smoke is discernible in your system or might show up as a false positive? I was thinking of going to the casino this weekend and those are notorious for being smoke filled. Not that I'm having blood work done to test for nicotine right now...just an idle question from a tired mind
