    Default "mushy" foods

When did everyone here transition to the "mushy foods" stage; at 2 weeks or 3 weeks? I've heard varying answers. Also, I'd appreciate your tips for this transition to go smoothly & any "mushy food" recipes or food ideas you have (no seafood please, thanks)

    Thank you!

My doctor gave me the "soft food" okay when I was 9 days post-op, but everyone's doctor is different. Did you have your first post-op appointment yet? If not, call up his nurse and ask her when you are to start.

I like malt-o meal and I make it a couple of different ways. I add sugar free vanilla Torani and a smushed up banana plus cinnamon for a "banana bread" type flavor. I have also added fat free Nestle hot cocoa mix (2 TBSP) plus sugar free Torani (different flavors). I only make half the serving of the malt-o meal, though.

Then there is a ricotta bake - I posted it on my blog, so you can check that out.

Keep it relatively simple while you are adjusting. I've had a tough time and find my fave go to food is soup.

I graduated to mushy foods 7 or 8 days post op & ate a LOT of refried black beans mixed w/a little salsa (just picked out the big chunks). I also mixed canned ham or chicken with a little ff mayo & some pickle relish either in the food processor or chopped the heck out of it w/my 'slap chopper' & lived on them for 2 weeks. Also ate cottage cheese & sf puddings. The key is to play a little to find the foods your stomach will tolerate & listen to it when something doesn't sit well. Congratulations & good luck.

Pureed foods after 4 weeks, starting week 5, & soft foods after 6 weeks, starting week 7. Finally, at week 9 (later this week for me!) I get to introduce regular, solid foods.
