My name is Spencer Smith and I am from Arcadia, La. I will be having the gastric sleeve surgery in about 4 weeks. I am so excited that I can hardly stand it. I have always been a BIG guy , but it has never really stopped me from doing things I want to do in life. Yes, It has definitely brought on complications but nothing major. Thank God. My starting weight was, are you ready for this?, 643 pounds. No, I was not bed ridden or handicap in any way. I am 6'4 and I have always been able to carry my weight. Everyone who knows me says I do not look like I weigh that much but feel it. I have been on my meal replacement diet for two weeks now. It has definitely had its struggles but I am shedding weight like crazy. My Dr. is Dr. Clark Warden and he is absolutely amazing.The staff is great, and plus I have got to meet other patients and got to sit and listen to their stories. I hope I meet alot of new people on here for friendship , advice, and just to show support but post op people know how hard it has been for them. Encouragement is always a blessing to someone. Welcome here. Good to hear your loosing a lot of weight with the meal replacement diet. How much are you losing so far? Did your Dr. give you a target to get to before surgery?

Welcome and congrats on making the decision. I've always been a big lady too, but that has never really stopped me either. I was very overweight in school, but I used to play hockey for wales at that time, badminton for my county and field events (shot, discus and javelin) at school and county level.

Hi Spencer and welcome, I am pretty new here but find things very interactive and everyone very helpful to each other. Have you searched on this site for Bo McCoy? He started out at 600+ too and is arouund 300+ now. He spoke at the OH Fabulous in Seattle workshop this past weekend and said to contact him any time. He has an address on OH so just search and I think you will find him. He is very energetic, working on his PhD, dancing and singing karaoke nowadays!
