You've come to the right place and I'm actually glad you aren't getting the Sleeve with all the problems it's had. You've come to the right place for suport and also to learn from others' experiences. Read about the Sleeve as well. Are you approved for the Sleeve or do you need to go through another process? Good luck to you my dear.

You are not a monster.... my BMI was over 50 when I started and there were plenty of people bigger then me. We all start somewhere... the key is to keep on working it... don't give up!

good point cowgirl jane! I was about a 54 on the richter scale. Down to 28 bmi now - but that is truly based only on numbers, and I know I have 30 lbs of skin remaining, so if I deduct that, then truly at about a 24!

I understand your pain....I am super Obese as well but I learned that you are what you speak into the universe...so I decided that I am working toward health and better today than yesterday. Don't call yourself a monster, you are God's child & he loves you. Just do better for yourself one day at a time and things will move forward. I still need to lose 20 lbs b4 my surgeon will do the surgery but he is doing that because it is better success rate for me. I did get depressed cause I want to jump start this loss but I want to be healthy. Just start, don't punish yourself & remember you are beautiful & can do whatever you need to do.

Hi! Welcome and I think you'll find lots of great support and advise on this site. I researched both the lap band and the sleeve and opted for the sleeve. It is permanent and that scared me a little but it has almost the same success rate as the gastric bypass and more than the lap band. My concern with the lap band was it would be something foreign in my body for the rest of my life and had more side effects. I think you'll do fine on the sleeve. I had my sleeve on 8/20/2013, 7 weeks ago and I'm down 50 pounds as of yesterday.

Do you have to get approval for the sleeve or did you insurance say no to the lap band but yes to the other surgery? I hope they approve you soon and you can make the decision that's best for you.

I'm ready for this!! I'm so tired of being tired. Of having no energy, my knees ache, my ankles are always swollen....I know that all of you already know all these things! Bring it! I'm so ready!!!

You're not a monster. Being overweight has nothing to do with who we are on the inside. When I started my journey in March my BMI was almost 60. Now not even 2 months later my BMI is 49. What hasn't changed is the woman I am on the inside, the one that my friends know and the one that others want to know. Good luck with your sleeve process; this is a great place for support.

Just met my first NWG. . . I had my surgery 9/27 and for the first time in about 8 years, I was able to get my wedding rings on my finger comfortably today! Anyone else have some positive outcomes not related to the actual pounds?

The gastric sleeve is awesome. Keeping on a healthy food plan is imperative, but then it works great. Good Luck!!

It is true that not all high BMI people do well with the sleeve... do your research. Actually not 100% of low BMI people do well with the sleeve - lets be honest about it.

My life time high was 332; my pre-op sleeve weight was 308... I weigh 151 and am 25 BMI now. The sleeve did work for me, and i worked it! I chose a program that had a lot of support (nutrtionalist, emotional etc)
