I am having surgery and heard various numbers for days off. Can anyone tell me if they used short term disability from work?
I am on FMLA..your employer (if they employ more than 15 people should offer FMLA.
I don't work but just want to say how much time you will need is VERY individual, some are up and about in a few days and others it takes a bit longer. You might feel better than you think sooner. Just keep an open mind. Plan for the worst but expect the best.
I did short term disability, 3 weeks, and took vacation for the 4th week.
We require 2 weeks of paid time off to be used before STD is implemented. I plan on 2 weeks of PTO and then 2 weeks of STD, just to be on the safe side, and not knowing how I will tolerate surgery/after affects.
I have to use 40 hrs of PTO and then my STD (that really looks bad at times if you look at it wrong) will kick in at 100% for 3 weeks and then 60% for any time after up to 8 weeks. Just to be on the safe side I am opting to take 5 weeks total. I feel that will give me time to heal from the surgery and to be somewhat adjusted to my new eating habits and to hopefully have most of my strength back. And I will get to have all of December and the first week of January off. Yeahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!
We have paid short term disability that runs concurently with FMLA.
