    Default New foods, no limits?

Ok so I'm almost a month out and I'm trying new foods. I have made dinners and ate with my family. Everything has gone down fine. No problems.... none. I guess what I'm saying is I hear all these problems with certain foods that people are having and everytime I eat I'm in fear but I'm a rebel and eat it anyways and wait for the outcome. Has anyone had no problems eating??? Oh and also I can kinda chug water. I drink normal.

I never really ate the bad food my problem was eatting to much food. I've been good I think. Last night was hamberger with swiss cheese mushrooms bacon and avacado , no bread and of course a tiny one lol

Night before was egg plant in sauce (this was kinda heavy as it was breaded egg plant) but still no problems.

You are lucky if you can eat those types of food that soon after surgery. I had my surgery at the beginning of Feb and lots of things still give me problems when I try to eat them. I don't handle fried foods very well.. or bread, pasta, rice, etc. I even have a hard time getting the right amount of liquid in as well as protein.

I am 5 weeks out and have had no problem with any foods I've added on the soft food diet. I'm sticking to plan and can also chug water pretty good. My PA told me the other day that at this point, it's normal to be able to drink 4-5 oz at a time. I am having no pain with anything I eat. Guess we are the lucky ones, right? lol As long as you don't add any tougher meats or hard food that your tummy (healing wise) isn't ready for and observe your full 'cues", then everything seems fine to me.

I thought something was wrong with me lol even my Dr was suprized He told me to hold off on steak and things like that for 6 months so I wont be eatting that till then. I havent tried bread and to be honest I really dont want it.

Thank you for letting me know... I just felt like something was wrong since I had no problems. I thought maybe I just couldnt feel it but was hurting myself.

I did eat too much one night and whoa I will never do that again but it still went down.

I can eat just about anything and could for about a week after surgery. I didn't tell my Dr as I was scared to get reprimanded. I just chew like a bandit and see what happens from there. I know baked chicken the other night didn't sit too well and it will be a bit before I try it again. As long as I chew, I'm fine..though I have not tried steak yet...hmmmm.

I am almost 8 weeks post op and since the beginning I have not had any issue with foods .....although I don't and won't add any complex carbs like bread, rice pasta so don't know how that would react but no issues at all with food...I can eat just about anything at this point but I'm not getting more then about 800 calories a day ..and also have no problem chugging 4-6 oz of water at a time! We are the lucky ones !

You're so lucky! I'm only 3 weeks out but have tried puréed cottage pie and puréed duck which didn't sit well at all! I find I'm really missing toast (though only in the mornings when I make it for my kids! ) water makes me nauseous so I'm drinking cordial, milk or tea constantly. Can't wait til the soft food stage! X

I can also drink pretty much normal. Very thankful for this.

I have also had no problems with any food. The only problems I have had is when I eat too fast. Particularly on my lunch break when I try to snarf down food at my before surgery pace. I have not thrown up, but I definitely get that uncomfortable knot in the middle of my chest.

Wow, I am envious of you guys. My surgeon requires a 2 week pre-op liquid diet, that leads to a 4 week post-op liquid diet. Yup, that's right....6 long weeks of liquids. I am now only 18 days post-op. I've got 10 more days before I can start the 2 week pureed diet. Then after that is another 2 weeks of soft food diet.

I started the pre-op diet on August 12th. I won't be back to regular food (on a trial basis of course) until Oct. 21st.

I just want flavor and texture again. I miss it soooooom nuch.

I am now 5 weeks post op, other than the first 2 weeks post op when I stuck to the liquid diet, since then I have eaten the same as my family have eaten but dices and mashed a bit more and like others I chew chew chew. If I dont chew I soon feel it!. Today went to chinese buffet restaurant put a small amount of the meats on my plate with a couple of veg, chew everything well and although I couldn't finish it, I did not have any problems. I must admit I have been a bit worried that maybe I could be damaging things!! But it appears that others can also manage to eat the same. I am still losing weight, not as fast as others, but it is still coming off. I have also noticed a big difference in my clothes 2 sizes down in 5 weeks.

I'm a month post op today and I, too, can eat pretty much anything and can drink water in gulps with no problem. I just chew chew chew and make sure I take my time in between bites. I eat about 900-1000 calories a day, but I have to because I exercise so much and if I don't get in that many calories I feel weak. I've tried some of the "bad" carb stuff, but seriously a bite or two and I'm over it. With making sure I get my protein in I really can't afford to have more than that! I think we're the lucky ones! Great job on your weight loss so far!
