    Default The Night Before Surgery....

    Hi yall,
I was wondering if I can take Tylonol PM tonight, the night before Surgery? I am having trouble sleeping (yes totally nerves) it just happened last night! I know you can't have anything by mouth after midnight, but it will be before midnight! Do you think thats ok?

No, look over pre-op medications. I wasn't allowed any Tylenol for two weeks prior. You'll be fine, its goes by before ya know it.

Tylenol should be ok. No NSAID's nor aspirin. But the above advise is correct. Call your doc.

While I agree with checking with your doctor, I take one Tylenol PM every night and have done so for years. I was told it was fine to take the night before and plan to do so. Good luck ... mine is tomorrow also. We will be on the road together!

I just might be overstepping a little here, but since it is an open forum and you asked---CALL YOUR DOCTOR!!! We are just people like you---while I suspect there are some medical care givers participating in our life changing experience, I for one have not gone to medical school for 10-12 years plus and don't have a clue what is right for you. THIS IS YOUR LIFE---THIS IS NOT DRESS REHEARSAL WE ONLY GET ONE CHANCE HERE ON EARTH!!! With that said, for me, if I should happen to die---the alternative is beyond anything I could ever hope for or imagine---I will be eating whatever I want with Jesus!!!!!

    I would say NO.
I couldn't sleep either which worked to my advantage later on.
I was too tired to get worked up and stressed out while waiting my turn for the operating room.

I was told NO when I had previous surgeries including hysterectomy and carpal tunnel surgery. If you take it and you go tomorrow and they ask you what you took the night before I would hate to have them not proceed with the surgery because you took something that you should not have. Go take a warm bath or shower and try to relax. I would be restless too, but don't put yourself in delay or harm! But who am I, just like others I am not a doctor. Good Luck tomorrow!

I was told nothing after midnight - they did have me take my synthroid on the morning of the surgery - but why risk it. You are going to be asleep for a lot of the next couple of days anyhow.
