Came back to review this thread because it's an enjoyable one.
Since mid-January, I've been doing yoga most mornings. It's my most consistent, sustained practice apart from attending weekly classes for a year or so (about 18 years ago). I am happy to see myself able to do poses again which I loved before but was unable to do before surgery. I've even been to some classes and kept up.
I like the way my body feels when I do the yoga and I am more comfortable all day because of it. Less aches and pains altogether and more energy.
One of my goals before the surgery was to be able to sit cross-legged on the ground again. Pleased that I am able to do that again now.
    Nel

Fantastic progress Nel. Since I last posted, I've done lots of things and also had a period of injury. I did my short-course triathlon and finished it all without having to stop (my big fear was not having enough energy to keep running in the final leg). I did a night-time 5k and did it in around 36:30, I did another 5k which was uphill for the entire last 1k and did it in around 38:00. Then I was doing another 5k charity event last December and developed runner's knee about 2.5km in, and had to stop. Damn! So I took some time away from running, got myself some physio, and crossed my fingers. My first long-ish run back was a jog when I was in Paris that took me past the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe - running in style!! But I got a sore knee again at the end of that run. Now I'm back in regular training, and haven't had knee pain (fingers crossed), and I've got another short-course triathlon coming up next month. Then I've booked myself to do a 10k in September, and an 8k in Amsterdam in October. I have fantasies of half-marathon distance next year - who knows?!

I think yoga sounds like a good idea but I've struggled to find a class locally that suits my work time.

Can I tell you all a secret? I lost weight and got a tummy tuck about 12 years ago. I didn't look good in a swimming suit, but when I put on a wetsuit the guys looked at me like I was a goddess. There are light weight swim suits of all kinds, some called "sun suits". Too many of us are trying to look good in a bikini. There's just something about a figure-hugging black thing. Going to get back into that soon!

I've been working out every day for 6 weeks. I am losing 4 inches a week now and went from a 14 to a 10 in pants, and an 8 and med in tops and dresses. My weight is moving at about 2lbs a week but my clothes feel so much looser than that. I love it!
I have increased my cardio resistance to 9 on the recumbent bike and do 30-40 mins depending on how much time I have. I have also increased the variety of arm work I do. I still haven't been able to do ab work bc it hurts my lower back, but arms and legs are great!
For the record, I have NEVER been one to workout but it makes me feel so good now that I look forward to it and if I miss a day, I feel like I haven't accomplished anything.
I love this new life! Working out has raised my self esteem and mood. I don't ever want to fall out of this habit. It's great!!

Did a marathon, won several swimming challenges, placed in a Zone Championships long course swim meet, placed in a national event. Been able to do a lot of things like volunteering and the like I couldn't do before.

Still swimming. But now only 2 or 3 days a week. I have had to change things up again. 50 laps wasn't doing the trick anymore. Really? My body tends to figure out the new routine fairly fast. It's a few months and again the wight loss stopped. No big deal this time. I realized what was going on and made a change. I am now doing the Orange Theory workout 4 days a week and swimming only 2 or 3 days a week. I miss swimming more, but the change is doing me good.

I am so sorry SunsetWaves. I have only seen your message now. I waited until I got the ok from my doctor. It was at about 3 months for me. He didn't want me in the chemicals until well healed.

As far as being embarrassed in a bathing suit at the gym, I can say this... When I first started out, I was one of the larger woman there, but I was not alone by any means. There were several large people. I didn't move fast, but I did keep moving. The pool is a great way to get moving without pain. So I was not alone. Time has past now and I am no longer one of the bigger people there. But guess what? There are still lots of big people there getting started. The cycle of life, I am thinking. I am just farther along now.

In swimming no one really cares. Most people can't be airbrushed in Speedos, so we just get over it and get in the pool. LOL.

No marathons but my husband and I walk/run about 2-7 miles every other day.

    8 month goal- 185 lbs (Conquered 11.5.2014, 12 days before I hit 8 months)
    12 month goal-175 lbs (Conquered 3.5.2014, 12 days before I hit 12 months)
Final goal- 170 lbs. (2 lbs to this goal)
