    Default Slow Weight Loss??

Hi!! I had the surgery May 24th and am beginning to eat fish, crabmeat and cheerios this week! I can only eat four or five bites of anything before I'm full! Is this normal? I'm also concerned that I've only lost 30lbs in month. It seems slow since I'm probably only eating 500-600 calories daily. What's an average weight loss for the month after surgery?

I think 30lbs in a month is fantastic! That's a lb a day! One thing my nutritionist told me has really stuck with me. Now that you've lost 30, go to Walmart and get a 30lb bag of dog food and carry it up and down an aisle or two. THAT'S what you've lost! After the 1st aisle, it'll seem heavier and heavier. Thinking of it that way, 30lbs is a great success! Keep your head uP!

I get that at times too but not with everything I eat. Did you lose weight before surgery? I didn't even do the preop diet.

I would be very happy with 30 lbs in the first month following surgery! I am 3 wks post op today and I have lost 21 lbs. I hope I get to 30 by next Tues! I only lost 4 lbs in the last 10 days, so it's really hard to think that is all I have lost. I am following the diet, getting my protein and liquid in. I also started exercising 3 times per week. I am taking the exercising slow, but at least I am moving. I know I am doing all the right things, so it will come off eventually. Isn't self positive talk great?

I do have doubts, but am trying not to let them rule. I have an underactive thyroid, so my metabolism is slow. My history has been that I can lose a few pounds, but the losing comes to a stand still even though I am not eating large. So, my negative self talk is that due to my thyroid, the weight is going to come off slower than I want and is going to get me depressed, after all I have been through with this surgery and 3 mos pre op process. That was not easy! I also think sometimes that I won't lose any more because of this. Like, this is all I get! I also told myself that if the sleeve doesn't work for me, I'm so done with trying to lose weight!
