Default What vitamins should I take? Little help please

My info from my surgery says
    -protein
    -multi bit
    -iron tablets
    - B12 sublingual tablets

Now I've been reading some people take calcium chews and all sorts of things. I was also told by friend of my moms who have to surgery to use prenatal vitamins. Any information you have would be great. I try to get my vit d and multi vit in gummy form. Easier for me to take than more pills. Already take enough pills with my BP. And trying to get them In Liquid form.

Each group has their own preferences and it is best to stick with what they recommend.

For me .... My surgeon did not want me taking Flintstones with iron chewables and changed me to normal vitamin tablets on day 2 .. I take Centrum Silver. I take no additional iron as my levels are normal and I am menopausal. Calcium citrate is easier to absorb than calcium carbonate thus I have a big packet of chews wasting in the cupboard and now take Unjury Calcium (chewables as I love the taste) and they have VitD added. I take a sublingual Vit B12 and a mega red krill oil ( not bariatric related but I take it for prophylactic protection against macular degeneration).

You will get ten different answers from ten people here ..... talk to your surgeon, RD for guidance. Good luck

I trolled the internet for similar info; I agree with Bilby that you will get at least as many answers as people you ask.

After about 6 months, B12, folic acid, and D appear to need continued supplementation. Perhaps you can have your levels of various micronutrients tested, and obtain an answer accurate for you.

I haven't had surgery yet but my Dietitian told me yesterday to take prenatal vitamins after surgery. That was not on my surgeons instructions . She just thought it was the best vitamins to take.

I agree as well I am sure each program is different and you will get different answers from everyone. For me I take a chewable multi-vit, sublingual b12 and calcium with vit D. Talk to your surgeon or nutritionist, they will tell you what you should take.

If you can tolerate prenatals that is fantastic but then you may not need the iron. It is very easy to over-do it with iron. I have never been able to tolerate iron in any form other than IV. Chronically anemic, even after having a hysterectomy when I was 24.

I currently take Andrew Lessman's Complete, its a one a day total formula without iron and I have no stomach upset with it at all. But it seems expensive but when you break it down its about $10-12 per month. Made in Nevada in an all solar factory. I also take his Healthy Hair, Skin & Nails supplement with biotin & pomegranate.
