    Question pre op diet

Hi everyone. I'm looking for a good protein shake mix. I've always been active and in the gym i tend to stick to chocolate Whey. My doctor said i should look or ask around from people who had surgery and see what they preferred. So far it's day one of preop trial. He said i can try the diet for 3 days just to see what it includes before i start my pre op diet for real at the end of next month. so far i've had a protein shake and a lot of water. any advice would be great

I had surgery in January and tried all types prio. The one I have stuck with is called "Nectra Sweets? by Syntrax. I use the Chocolate truffle and mix it with either Soy Milk or Almond Milk. Lass fat and more protein. I also enjoy adding some Peanut Butter powder, sound s gross but it is so yummy. Once it's all mixed (hand shaking works fine) I add some ice to the container and away I go. You can find both of the items at "The vitamin shoppe" Let me know how you make out and good luck!!!

I'm in the midst of my pre-op liquid diet and trying a bunch of them. So far Unjury is fantastic! They have chocolate, vanilla and even chicken soup! Imagine ramen noodles w/o the noodles - it really is delish! And yes, I was a skeptic - pleasantly surprised!!!

I used Unjury Chocolate Splendour and their chicken soup prior to surgery and continue to do so after surgery. I didn't care for the vanilla or the strawberry though

    ??? (this is for Jo-Ann)

Almond milk has almost NO protein (1g / serving), and soy milk typically has 25% more carbs than 2% milk, for the same 8g of protein.

Better off looking for reduced-fat dairy milk with boosted protein - Bordens' Hi-Protein 2%, for example, or (in central Texas) HEB's "Mootopia" (1/2 the carbs, 50% more protein).

Just saying, there are much better choices out there, if you look. Biggest lesson to me in the past 6 months is READ LABELS: I've been shocked at all the things I thought I "knew" were good for you that aren't really....

Definitely support your comment on the peanut butter powder added in - that was the only thing that made the protein shakes palatable to me in the early stages post-op (when they were about all I could have). What a life-saver that was!!
