Default Food is just no fun.

Will it ever not hurt to eat? I get so frustrated. I go slow and chew well and still blah... It always feels like it is just sitting in my chest. then after about two hours and drinking water after an hour, I'm back hungry again. I'm focusing on protein but I'm still having a hard time getting 70g in a day. Same for water. On top of it all I'm still in my stall, week 2, grrr. Sorry, about venting but just needed to get this out of my head. Anyone with anything encouraging?

That sitting in the chest feeling for me is when I've eaten too much.

It will get better, though. You are still early in the process.

I still clearly remember the first month after surgery thinking to myself that food would never taste good again. Seriously, more than just a few bites of anything filled me up to the point of pain. I also remember the depression that came along with that, because I had spent so many years using food as an emotional crutch and then suddenly it wasn't there for me anymore. As bad as you feel right now, I promise that it will only get easier and easier as time goes on. Your body and mind are still healing from your surgery. Give yourself a well-deserved break. As far as the stall, it is going to happen. It has happened to all of us. Just know that it will pass also.

A little. But even from the first nibble I start to feel pressure. No vomiting though so that's good.

It does get better. I am 7 month post op. I still can feel the food going into my stomach and staying there but it is not uncomfortable unless I eat to much too fast. Try to stay with thinner consistency of food for a while longer. Even now after a couple of ounces of dense meat I don't want any more. Good luck with the learning process and hope the discomfort subsides soon.

At that stage my surgeon's regime still had me on liquids. I was only having full soups at that stage.

The short answer is yes it will hurt not to eat. At this point the pain you're experiencing isn't because of the long-term restriction of having a smaller stomach, it's because at this stage post op you have a stomach that is still saying ...

"What the F@$# did you do to me???? What are all these weird metal bits???? Where did the rest of me go????? NO WAY - stop putting stuff INTO ME?!

It will pass, I promise. I eat 'normally' now - just much smaller quantities as expected. I concentrate on trying to slow down, but I don't have to eat slowly any more. I don't have any foods I can't routinely tolerate, and just occasionally stuff feels a bit weird in my stomach afterward.

At 25 days post-op, it's early stages. Accept it as a temporary phase, back off the more solid foods for a bit if you need to, and focus on the long term benefits to help tolerate this stage which I admit got pretty boring.

    Good luck

Im going to agree with everyone else here and say, go back to less dense foods, I know its horrible and you are probably sick of it, but try googling recipes and getting creative Quiche was a great one for me! Also things like avocado and sour cream to foods - in moderation of course

I hope all goes well soon for you. I'm scheduled to have my new life on July 8th and all I think about is what will I be able to do and not do. Like this morning no caffeine, not in the mood for a smoothie, feeling depressed taking myself off all kinds of foods, trying to get use to no or low sugar, high protein stuff, no carbs when I can harder than I thaught . My biggest fear is ending up in the hospital for malnutrician not enough of something. What gets me excited is reading all the others that have gone before me and how they coped. I look at all the pictures and start to cry. Can't wait for my day in the sun.

More than likely it is because of swelling. Please consider calling your doc and asking. You are very early out. What have you been told as far as stages? For instance, for me, first two weeks, nothing but liquids (clear). Second two weeks, pureed. Now I'm on soft. I still get that feeling as well but it's getting better everyday. Were you prescribed anything like Axid or Prilosec? If not, please inquire

You know it will get better and its just a matter of time. Each of us is different and responds differently to different things. Just try your best, be patient with yourself and your body healing. Remember, you had MAJOR surgery, even though with the small incisions and non invasive procedure we might forget that.
Some days you'll be frustrated and some will pass by and you'll suddenly realize you ate without any problem. It kinda sneaks up on you as the healing progresses and your body gets used to what you're doing now.
Trying to get all the protein and fluids in, especially right after surgery is impossible. Again, time will allow for that to happen naturally.
Smile and know you've done the greatest thing for yourself, your health, your future and all the time you'll be able to share with your loved ones that might have been taken away through serious illness or even death, because of obesity related issues.
Enjoy the process, keep a good written and pictorial record for yourself so you can look back on it all. You'll be such an inspiration to others and you probably won't even know it. Wishing you all the very best!

Try some different temps of water. At 2 weeks I was on runny foods: oatmeal, shakes, yogurt, etc. 3 tablespoons was the absolute max I could eat. Don't ever "push" your stomach. It should be your guide for the rest of your life. Be mindful of what it is saying, it sounds like to me it's saying "I am full". The morning of my 3 month post-op anv I woke up and magically everything was easier from that day on. We all heal differently just do not push your stomach. Drink the shakes!
