Default Ladies--I have a question for ya ;)

Has anyone had their period stop after surgery....? I had plication surgery done Jan. 31st, going from 210 to 167ish now. This month my period has vanished, and while it SOUNDS like a blessing ( ), its concerning me a bit. I have yet to see the doctor, but thought Id start here as well. I can also say Im not real good at remembering my daily vitamins,so maybe this has something to do with it too..?

Is there any possibility that you could be pregnant?

I've had issues with my period too, but just the opposite. I have the implant in my arm and my cycle hasn't been normal since i got it in July... But... I had it for about 6 weeks prior to surgery. It stopped just in time for surgery, then came back the day after i came home. I had it for 5 days. Then it came back a little more than a week ago and still going strong.

I'm definitely a bit more erratic now than previously. It's possible it's diet related (enough calories, protein, vitamins, etc).

    Starting weight for lap-band = 252
    miserable 5 years later
Starting weight for VSG = 229
    Pre-op weight = 219

I'm having the same issue! I am currently taking seasonique birth control, so I only get my period every three months. My first period after surgery was only two days and very light and now I didn't get one at all... Is that normal? I'm glad to hear someone else is having the same issue!

Menses can be affected by diet and stressors on the body. For example world class athletes may stop menses during times of heightened exercise Anorexic young girls may stop menses due to the extreme malnutrition. It could make sense that menses be affected by the changes you've made to your diet and exercise program. You didn't mention your age but eventually menopause kicks in for all of us. I would suggest contacting the nutritionist through your surgeon's office to find out if this is common and what will help you get back to normal Also, if it continues, you should talk to your gynecologist--there are several reasons for menses to stop. For most it is wise to talk to a doctor. Best wishes with your continued success.

Good to know. I have always been as regular as can be and last cycle I was 2 weeks late (and definitely NOT pregnant)! I was planning on asking my PCP about it when I see her next month. I see my surgeon in a couple of weeks as well.
