Brand new here! Had surgery 5/10/13. Just got home from hospital!

Hey everybody, I'm Amanda. I had the sleeve gastrectomy done on May 10, 2013. My doctor had me stay 3 nights which was unexpected but better safe than sorry I suppose. I'm 20 years old and I don't know (and honestly haven't heard of) anyone my age who has had this procedure. I'm just hoping to get into contact with some people who are going through the same thing I am. I'm really open and am glad to talk about anything! Don't be shy

Welcome to the sleeved side, this is a really great forum. This was my GO_TO for everything pre op and post op. I was sleeved 4/29 and feeling great!

I had a class with a few young people ( like 20- 28) who were getting the surgery I did not keep in touch with them but my cousin used to go to school with one of them I could find out if he could get in touch if you have any questions, though this was 2 years ago .. Congrats on your new adventure I joined the sleeve club on the 6th

Hi Amanda, congrats! You will see it is all worth it. It was the best thing that I have ever done for myself. All I can say is don't discourage when you go through down for the up side is that you are doing this for your health and your well being. Your body will thank you for it. Now that you just got out of the hospital all I can tell you is rest, take it really easy and don't move much. I hope you have someone at home with you helping you to sit and stand,lay down and up. I know, I did everything I could not to force my mid section as per my doctor's orders, so that the healing would be faster and better.

Hey there. Congratulations. I had surgery the same day and another lass your age was in the same ward as myself for the sleeve also. Find a member called Kaz from the recent surgery list and you'll have met someone same age, same op, same day - different country.

Best of luck to you.....take things easy to allow your body to heal but do get your walking in to help with the gas. If you browse the "group forum" you may find several groups that might interest you.
