Default Does it get easier???? Please say YES!

    Hi!

I'm out one week post op and I am feeling okay, I was very strict on the 2 week pre-op and didn't cheat and have done the same for the 1 of 4 week post op. But I'm struggling! Everyone is so happy with their sleeve but I feel like I'm going in slow motion! I cook for my family and I see/smell/touch good food and I want something real! I would love to eat something other than strained soup and cream of wheat...it's old and I am a little frustrated! Sorry not meaning to complain I am just venting! Thanks for stopping by

Yes the first couple of weeks are rough however if you can fight past the temptation to about week three or four you will see that it was all worth it.

I know I went through the same thing! Have just been given the go ahead with whatever I can eat, just no carbs yet! I still had to cook for my kids and it drove me crazy! Hang in there, it goes by more quickly than you think and you will get there! I am stuck in a stall, but I keep plugging along because I know it will pass. Good luck!!

I understand! I am one week out, and have a rough time with my husband and daughter eating regular food in front of me. I have been lucky, my husband has taken over cooking duties. Something that has helped was to seek out really GOOD looking cream soups and try them, as well as a few different varieties of hummus, for some flavor variation. I also add about 1 TBSP peanut butter to three tablespoons of cream of wheat...yes, PB is a little fatty, but the protein it adds and the satiation it provides have been a LIFESAVER.

Is there anything they eat that you can puree, and strain if necessary? It does get easier and you can do this! Just kick that little food demon off your shoulder and out of your head!

I'm 2 weeks post op. I agree peanut butter has been a life saver. It fills me up so that I don't want anything anyone else is eating. I haven't eaten anything crazy but I have tried things here and there. I made soupy instant potatoes with cheese and broccoli soup. I tried a scrambled egg but that didn't go well. I kept it down but it didn't feel good. I really think you just have to use your head and listen to your body. Trying things within reason made sense to me so that's what I did. My first post-op appt with my nutritionist is Wednesday. I'm just now supposed to be starting pureed/mushies. I might get yelled at but I'm losing weight and haven't thrown up so I feel like I'm doing pretty good. Good luck hun.

Hi everyone - I've read through the post and some of the replies and feel for you all. I'm a week and a day post op. I"ve decided the best way to deal with the food issue is to tackle it head on.instead of trying to keep away from it I've taken over cooking duties , prepared treats for my girls and even has a BBQ for all my extended family on Sunday. The rationale behind this is I have to learn to live with food so the best time to do this is now , when I can"t pick or eat it.This way I hope, like any other addiction, I'll get to the point where it doesn't bother me to be around it.

I'm still on liquids for another3weeks and am mostly eating homemade milk yoghurt and fruit shakes .I"m astounded that Hummus can be eaten now. Not sure if i could manage it :-)

Reginarings, you and I started at the same weight, 260 pounds. I will tell you that the first 6 weeks I cried everyday with regret. Now, 7 months later I couldn't be happier and would do it all over again. I've lost 99 pounds to date, i want to lose 31 more. I exercise every day, I eat healthy and I'm showing my children what a healthy lifestyle is. We no longer sit on the couch after dinner or on a Sunday afternoon. We go bike riding, walk/jog around the lake, take the dogs for a long walk or we just shoot some hoops out in the driveway. The point is we are active, tha's not the example I was setting for my children util I had the surgery.

Eat healthy and stay active, you will love your decision in a few months! Best of luck to you!

I don't think your nutritionist will want you eating Ritz. Protein first, always!

I like the way you think, I have been doing same thing, just trying things, (well for like a day and a half now Im only 7 days out) so far so good. I cant eat much, but have never thrown up, however, I do have diarrea problems on and off, I can usually tell what causes it. I dont venture too much cause I read about sleeve leakage, and other problem. Have you heard anything? I think my body is ready to switch to mushies, here and there.
