    Default Bad word, bad word, bad word...

    I weigh every morning and I'm up TWO pounds this morning for no reason. I get all my protein, drink more than 80 oz. of water every single day. I am not changing my ticker, I know it will go back down, I just want to whine a bit. My husband swore he smelled Taco Bell on my breath this morning. (He was kidding). I need a new scale. Yeah, that's it, a bad scale.

    Do you weigh daily? I try to weigh just once a week to avoid the ups and down (no pun intended) of weighing daily. You are so freshly out of surgery and your body is healing. Try to avoid the scale and focus on how you feel! You have done so great so far!!

    Stay off of the scale. It is the enemy. Start a daily relationship with your tape measure if you need the security of a daily routine.

    I weigh daily just like you and James. It is what it is! I choose to and know that some days it might go up a lb and other it might go dn 3 lbs. If your going to weigh everyday, know that it is going to do that some but it's ALL GOOD!!

    I too weigh almost daily. Mine goes up and down all the time. It doesnt bother me though because I know that its not going to continue going up like it used to. Now I know that if it goes up 3 or 4 pounds, it will come down in a day or two.

    I weigh twice a day. There have been days when I weighed more in the morning than I did the night before. The scale keeps me accountable. Do what's right for you.

    The scale is up two pounds for a reason - it's just that it's a reason unrelated to your calories in vs calories out. Here are some hypotheses;
    * measurement error - your scales aren't reliable
    * water retention due to monthly cycle
    * water retention because of that stuff we've all ready about needing a certain amount of water to let go of the next bit of stored fat (can't remember all the scientific specifics but a few people have posted links about this).
    * water retention due to different sodium levels

    I weigh every day, if you're going to keep weighing every day you need to develop a spirit of curiosity and tolerance. By all means get on every day but don't expect that the scales will go down in a regular even pattern - as long as the overall pattern is one of weight loss, day to day variations mean diddly squat in relation to how successful the surgery has been.

    I am a charter member of "The Scale Watchers" organization. I weigh everyday and, this is how bad I have OCD....I write it down! I have six years worth of recorded weight. That is how I knew my heaviest weight before WLS was ever a possibility for me. I tried to stop weighing in every morning. I couldn't do it. But I have skinny friends who love to jump on my scales...they are painfully accurate! I have doctors scales, in fact my doctor has the same scales. I think if you don't freak out either way...too high...don't eat....too low....binge...then I think it's okay to weigh every day. I have come to the conclusion that I am probably where I'm going to be in my weight loss. It's not where I wanted to land and I'm not going to stop trying to lose, but I've learned to be happy with who I am and not how much I weigh :-) we just belong to one of many clubs on this forum, but we all have love and support...can't go wrong with that!
