I've been drinking Ensure plus. It has 25 g of protein and has 210 calories. The only flavor I can stand is the chocolate and even that is getting old.

Shouldn't you all be on a soft diet now and don't need to do the protein drinks?

I'm newly sleeved and feel that same bubble in the throat! Is that a side effect of this?

The MD gave me a medication called Carafate. It is a liquid that helps with spasms, nausea, etc. They were giving me something like that in the hospital that I took sublinqual (under the tongue). At home it is a liquid. Maybe ask your MD about that.

When I first had my surgery I couldnt eat anything either. Everything I put in my mouth came back up, I was so frustrated. I spoke with my Dr, they said to go get some prevacid or just generic omeprizol, which I did. It helped for awhile, then I found out that as time went on I was having problems with acid reflux at night. Someone out here, who I owe a whole lot too mentioned that they were having the same problem and they started taking the omeprizol at night. I thought this was genius as I hadnt thought of it. Still everything I ate made me sick. So...I thought maybe if the omeprizol cuts down tummy acid, maybe my whole problem now is not enough tummy acid during the day? Stopped taking the stuff all together three days ago and finally I can eat without the pain, churning, and return of everything I eat. Seems a little odd for your situation, but the point I am trying to make is that you just have to keep trying things until you find what works for you. Heck I havent eaten anything but chicken for almost two months, but I do try things here and there, just protein first and not much room for anything else. Dont be affraid of your new sleeve, you just have to listen to it and keep on going. I understand your fears, really I do, I thought I would never be able to eat without running to the bathroom ever again. But you just have to keep going, a little spoon or taste of one thing, then maybe a bit more later on, see what happens. Seems everyone is different out here, and we all had to figure out what it was our sleeves liked and disliked, unfortunatly yours seems to be a picky eater. Good luck

I should have mentioned that the bottle of Carafate that was given to me is not only for vomiting and nausea but also for heartburn. I would imagine that since it is prescription it would be stronger.

    Carafate
    1gm/10ml SUS APTA

I had a pain in the middle of my chest area while I was at the hospital. They told me it was gas pain; it will go away. I rubbed it with my hand a lot. I also felt it when I took a big gulp. Now that pain is gone and I make sure to sip, sip, sip and swallow slowly. I don't have those symptoms any more. I also drink a gas and bloating relief tea from whole food. My dr said it was ok to drink it. Hope you feel better.
